Director’s MessageI take this opportunity to present, with immense pleasure, the Placement Brochure for the year 2010 for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management).
India stands on the brink of change and Rural India is leading the way. It is at this crucial juncture that the students of XIMB Rural Management would prove to be the bond that unites Rural and Urban India.
We at XIMB are extremely proud of the commitment and dedication exemplifi ed by the students of PGDM (RM). Their concern for the socio-economic development of society and the well being of the rural mass has been highly appreciated across India and beyond. This coupled with world class faculty, excellent infrastructure and continually upgraded and relevant course content, ensures that our students are best suited for undertaking challenging assignments and accomplishing them successfully.
I welcome you to XIMB, to experience the academic environment of the Institute as well as the competence of our students and to recruit them not only as human resources but rather as “human capital” and “change agents” for the country.

From the Coordinator’s DeskWelcome to XIMB for the campus placement process.
It is indeed my privilege to present to you a group of students who are potential leaders of tomorrow.
These professionals have been exposed to numerous challenges that seek to imbibe in them the spirit of enquiry and the ability to think and act independently. Apart from Rural Management on which the course is specialised, they have been exposed to all disciplines of management science like Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources and Systems.
What sets these students apart is the credo of Management with a human face and the social orientation that they have received from XIMB during the course. The rigorous regimen that they undergo has equipped them with the skills to excel in the area of their competence. There is no doubt in my mind that they will surpass all expectations when it comes to fulfilling your organisational objectives.
I take this opportunity to once again welcome your organisation to the campus of XIMB for the placement process of the graduating students of Rural Management.

many courses. These study trips give the students the much needed rural exposure apart from providing an opportunity to learn from the field level realities.
Rural Living and Learning Experience (RLLE) is an essential pedagogical component of the programme during which students are challenged with the realities of the rural life where they learn the nuances of the rural economy. The one month programme is designed in such a way that the students have to stay in the selected village, observe and analyse the village life and economy closely. In addition to this, they will also be engaged in carrying out theme based research activities.
The eight week Management Training Programme
(MTP) provides the students with a learning opportunity and practical work experience in organisations of repute in corporate and social sectors; to apply the management concepts learnt in the classroom to real life situations and helps them develop innovative target oriented solutions to the major issues faced by the organisations.]
Independent Research Project (IRP) is offered in the second year to undertake long term studies on a particular topic with a view to provide the students an opportunity to rigorously analyse and apply managerial insights to complex problems in rural development and management.

Placement Brochure 2010
Bhubaneswar–The Temple CityBhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa is situated in Khurda district. The city has been built in two parts; on one side is the ancient town with its famous temples and on the other, the newly constructed capital with its offices, courts and the private residences. Bhubaneswar geographically serves not only as a link between northern and southern India but it also opens up channels of communication and commerce with the rest of the world. Visitors are impressed with the splendour of the three monuments—the soaring spire of the Lingaraja temple, the white domed peace Pagoda of Dhauli on the bank of the river Daya and the pink temple of Mahavir Jain on the Khandagiri hill.
