ABOUT US

Gaya College of Engineering (GCE) allure the best of minds who are screened and

selected through tough competitive examination organized by Department of Science

and Technology of Government of Bihar (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive

Examination Board).

It is situated in the land of Enlightenment & Salvation, Gaya (Bihar) 82kms south of

Patna with a campus of 87 acres. It was Inaugurated by the honorable CM Nitish

Kumar in the presence of renowned educationists and dignitaries in 2008, it was

started as an institution to provide technical education in respective disciplines:

Infrastructure

The campus is situated at Bihar State Highway-4 Shri Krishna Nagar locality on the

outskirts of Gaya district, 15 km from the main town. The college is spread over 87 acres.

There are two academic buildings, one workshop and two campus hostels equipped with

all modern facilities for third year and final year students. The area is lush green and free

from pollution.

Facilities:

Bank: Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank Branch inside the campus.

Library: Well-maintained library equipped with thousands of books related to all

streams, journals.

Sports: Playground/Courts for playing Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton,

Computer Center

The Bihar government has sanctioned an amount of ₹39 Crores for improving

infrastructure facilities. The construction work has already been started since January

2018 & is likely to complete in June 2019.



Department of Mechanical Engineering

GCE, Gaya was Inaugurated by the honorable Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar in year

2008. One of the founding departments of Gaya College of Engineering, Gaya, the

Department of Mechanical Engineering played a leading role in evolving the “Engineering

Science” based curriculum. The excellent laboratory facilities, modern computer clusters,

systematically designed curriculum, and dedicated faculty members make this

Department a dynamic place to study.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides an excellent educational

experience, furnishing the students with specialized knowledge and technical skills,

inculcating a strong sense of confidence, and enabling them to be sufficiently diligent and

influential at subsequent stages in their career. Students gain invaluable experience

required to pursue a course of advanced study in mechanical engineering, providing them

with a sufficiently strong foundation for continued professional growth. The students are

Department of Civil Engineering

GCE, Gaya was Inaugurated by the honourable Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar in year

2008.The department started its journey from 2008. Ever since its start it has been

imparting quality technical knowledge to all its undergraduate students. There are more

than half a dozen of laboratories with advanced equipment which can cater many research

activities.

The Department offers B. Tech. in Civil Engineering which trains students in

various domains, such as structural analysis, construction materials, planning and

management, pavement design, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, design of

reinforced concrete and steel structures, water resources engineering, wastewater

engineering and computer aided design. The Department facilitates execution of

sponsored research and consultancy projects to address issues concerned with industries,

society and state government. The students are encouraged for entrepreneurship. In

addition to academics, the students are also encouraged to participate in several extra-

curricular activities and competitions, which helps to build interpersonal skills,

leadership, and managerial aptitude.

Department of Electrical & Electronics

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of GCE, Gaya has grown significantly

since its inception in 2008. The goal of the department is to provide quality education and

cutting edge research in various areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for

graduates and to earn itself a very good reputation in the state and national academic

network. The department also aims to develop active collaboration with various

industries in the energy, power and communication sectors. Currently, the department

has an annual intake of 60 students in the B. Tech program in Electrical and Electronics

Engineering. The department has laboratories with state-of-the art equipment’s and latest

versions of software platforms. The department actively organizes Faculty Development

Programs, Workshops and Expert Lectures from time to time. Faculty members of the

department have been regularly contributing towards refereed National and International

Department of Computer Science

The field of Computer Science and Engineering nowadays has become one of the most

demandable branch amongst the aspiring engineers. We have a goal to provide an

outstanding learning environment complemented by excellence in teaching. The

Department is moving ahead to build technical platform to students by spreading

awareness of technologies, transferring of the knowledge, sharpening the obtained

knowledge, and exposing students to solve real time problems. Laboratories are fully

equipped with latest computers and are supported by high speed Internet connection. Job

opportunities are available both in private and public sectors for a graduate of this

Department of Science & Humanities

The Department of Sciences and Humanities since its inception has been the foremost

centre for learning basic principles of various disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics,

Chemistry and Communicative English, so that students proceed to rest of their years of

study with up to date knowledge and training of basic engineering skills. Engineering is

concerned with the application of basic sciences and mathematics to solving real world

problems and making it a better place. Working toward this goal, the department

currently has 10 dedicated faculty members actively involved in teaching and research.

Well established laboratories help in fostering the spirit of research and motivate the

students to learn beyond the syllabus and understand the symbiotic relationship between

science and technology. Proficiency in the English language which is vital for working in

the global arena is imparted through an effective and efficient curriculum and a language

laboratory. Besides academics, the Department is actively involved in the development of

Student Activities



Philanthropy: A social Service

The basis of systems, social or political, rests on the goodness of its citizens. G.C.E

articulates its vision for a better society through a philanthropy program. Every year, the

students of the institute visit nearby schools to educate the primary school students and

make them aware about the importance of higher education in present world.

To encourage them, we organize extracurricular activities such as quiz competitions, small

workshops and distribute prizes to the students. We even provide materials like books,

dresses and other stationary items to them. Our aim is also on making people aware about

government schemes; conducting women empowerment activities, cleanliness drive,

candle march etc.



Sport & Cultural Activities

At GCE, students are encouraged to take part in sports and games. A huge ground is

maintained here for playing cricket and football. Tennis court, basket ball court and

badmintion court are also provided. Several other sports such as tabel tennis, athletics,

volley ball, kabaddi and others are also conducted. Institute believes that playing sports

helps the students to develop a spirit of team work which will help them to lead better

lives. During this acadmic session, the following activities took place in the campus-

a) Indoor games (boys& girls) - badminton, carrom board, chess, table tennis.

b) Outdoor games - football, cricket, kabaddi.

c) Cultural activities –debate, quiz, treasure hunt, singing competition, poster making

competition, mimicry, mono acts, dancing, collage making, painting, essay writing.



Hostel Facility

There are two new hostels along with an old hostel which provide for second, third and

final year students in the college campus. All hostels have telephone, televisions, common

room, indoor game courts as well as WIMAX. All rooms are single seater for students. A

mess with dining room is functioning in the hostel where breakfast, lunch and dinner are

served. There is also separate warden for each and every hostel in order to maintain

discipline. Hostels have got separate Wi-Fi connection for providing internet facilities to

students 24X7. Newspaper and magazines are provided in the common rooms.

Cleanliness and hygiene are taken care of and maintained in every respect. Private

security staff is responsible for guarding the hostel and patrolling is also done by these

staffs in the night. There are also some private hostels providing accommodation to the

students at Gaya Junction and Lakhibag, Manpur for boys and Nutan Nagar for girls. A

free bus service is provided for non-hosteller students.

The placement cell of GCE, Gaya is established during session 2017-18. Since then, this cell

is actively involved in calling companies for pre-final year students. Apart from this, the

cell is also involved in vocational training/internships for third year students in various

How to Reach GCE, Gaya

Gaya city is 92kms South of Patna (Capital of Bihar)

Gaya is well connected through Rail Network from Delhi, Howrah, Ranchi,

Patna as well as various parts of the country. G.C.E is 15km North-East away

from Gaya Railway station.

The nearest bus stand from GCE is 12km North (Mufassil bus stand).

The Commercial International airport facility is also available and the airport is

20 km south west of G.C.E Gaya and takes about 40 minutes to reach them by

road.
