By Lori Carter, Executive Director

I often will sit in the quiet of the morn-

ing before the day’s excitement has begun,

or once the dust has settled after a busy day,

I will stop and think about this amazing and

inspiring group of individuals that make up

our leadership team. I am constantly remind-

ed of the fact that I have such a great and

diverse team working for me, and how much

of our success is directly attributable to their

hard work and dedication!

It is a unique, often ambitious, and an

extremely rewarding experience to bring in-

dividuals together from a variety of back-

grounds, levels of expertise and experiences;

and meld them into a team. At times, it is

easy to lament about the process; this pro-

gress; steps forward and back. Employees

are human. Humans bring with them all of

the messiness that makes them human; mis-

takes, personalities, attitudes, personal lives,

and so on. Yet, they also bring with them so

much more; experiences, joy, personalities,

perspective, and meaning.

Each of the individuals on the leadership

team bring so much passion and inspiration

for their job at New Dawn. It is amazing

each day to see the accomplishments; the

lessons learned; the lessons learned about

one another. I am often found in awe for

each of these individuals, as they will show

you their respect and dedication to our resi-

dents; to our family members, to our staff,

and to the community at large. While it can

be demanding; even exasperating at times,

this team; individually and collectively, will

show you what it means to stand behind one

another and what passion for their job truly

looks like.

At the end of the day, I am inspired;

they inspire me…and, thus the passion for

the jobs we do. And, although each of their

positions is highly individualized, they each

must come together to make New Dawn

what it is – a comfortable home for those

that depend on us.
