We purchased Kamero privately as a calf from her breeders Ken & Shirley Rose at the IDS in 2008. That fall she went 2nd prize summer yearling behind the Junior Champion at the Royal. She topped her year off as Reserve All-Canadian. We took Kamero to the IDS this year with intentions of letting the Ayrshire world know she still existed. We feel we came home accomplishing that!

We are now back from an interesting and educational trip withthe Great Worldwide Ayrshire Family!

To begin, I wish to thank Linda for her 17 years of work, sha-ring her knowledge, her passion, her human contact and herdetermination for our Ayrshire. Thank you and good luck inthe future.

Our industry changes rapidly around us: whether it’s the num-ber of producers, breeders, suppliers, constraints of all sorts,rules, environment, social, we must grasp the present situationand turn it into an opportunity for our Ayrshire’s prosperity.

Informally, we have received many C.V.’s for the job to befilled. We also had talks regarding our investments in TAG.Ayrshire Quebec has also signed a new collaboration agree-ment with the CIAQ. The World Ayrshire Conference in SouthAfrica was a great success: farm visits, safari and marketing forthe Canadian delegation. Thank you to all the participants whomade it such an unforgettable experience.

We have two coming events, the picnics of Ayrshire Ontarioand Ayrshire Quebec. The Ontario picnic will take place onJuly 28, following the Youth Week (see the ad). The Quebecpicnic will be held on August 18 including a sale of top gene-tic animals.

In my name and that of the Ayrshire Canada’s Directors, I wishto ask all the members to send us their ideas and recommen-dations in the weeks to come for the prosperous future of ourAyrshires, our farms and for the Association. Have a greatsummer!

Nous voilà de retour après un voyage intéressant et éducatifavec la grande Famille Ayrshire mondiale!

Pour commencer, je voudrais remercier Linda pour ces 17années de travaille; pour avoir partager son savoir, sa passion,son contact humain et sa détermination pour notre Ayrshire.Merci et bonne chance pour l’avenir.

Notre industrie change rapidement autour de nous : que ce soitle nombre de producteurs, d’éleveurs, de fournisseurs, descontraintes de toutes sortes, règlements, l’environnement,social pour cela, il nous faut saisir la situation actuelle pour enfaire une occasion d’avenir pour la prospérité de notreAyrshire.

À titre informel, nous avons reçu plusieurs C.V pour le postequi est à combler. Nous avons aussi eu des pourparlers ausujet des investissements TAG. Ayrshire Québec a égalementsigné une nouvelle entente de collaboration avec le CIAQ. LaConférence Mondiale Ayrshire en Afrique du Sud fut un grandsuccès : visites de fermes, safari, marketing pour la délégationcanadienne. Merci à tous les participants qui en ont fait unsouvenir inoubliable.

Deux événements sont à venir : les pique-niques AyrshireOntario et Québec. Celui de l’Ontario aura lieu le 29 juillet,précédé de la Semaine jeunesse (voir annonce p.5). Celui pourle Québec aura lieu le 18 août et comprendra une vente d’ani-maux.

En mon nom et en celui des directeurs d’Ayrshire Canada, jedemanderais à tous les membres de nous faire part de leursidées et recommandations dans les semaines à venir pour assu-rer un avenir prospère de la Ayrshire dans nos entreprises etl’Association. Passez un bel été!

AGM held in Ottawa,Ontario at the Lord ElginHotel on March 1, 2012with 21 members andindustry representativespresent. Along withPresident Andrew Shufelt,Linda Ness, and JennyHenchoz, were werejoined by USA AyrshirePresident SteveMacDonald, ClaudeLeRault from Pfizer,Holstein Canada Eastern Fieldman Chris MacLeod, and breedersLarry & Wilma Park from Manitoba. After going through the formalreading of the minutes and reports, the group had a great discus-sion on how our dollars are being spent. We were trying to decidehow to best use our advertising budget and where we would beable to trim down costs.

Dave and Darryl gave their fieldmen reports, both saying they willmake a stronger effort to visit members as well as non-members.Cynthia gave her Breed Improvement Committee report, and askedBernard to elaborate on a hoof trimming seminar he attended inMaxville. Bernard said that more hoof trimmers are moving to acomputer software program that draws connections between siresand hoof health. This would be a very useful tool for the breed touse in tracking any potential problems in the future.

A lengthy discussion ensued on perhaps the biggest issue athand, Ayrshire Canada’s investment in TAG genetics and theimpending vote that was to occur the following day at theNational AGM. Henri Hofer and Andrew Shufelt handled thequestions and concerns of the breeders, and did a great job ofrunning through the different scenarios that could arise fromthe vote. Between all of the Board members at the meeting,they did a terrific job of explaining the position that we arecurrently in, and what the potential outcomes could be. Beingthat the breeders from Quebec had put forth a motion for theNational AGM, Bernard asked the Ontario breeders if they alsowanted to put forth a motion. A motion was made but wasdefeated. Bernard asked that we move on, as the issue couldbe discussed at greater length at the National AGM.

L’AGA a eu lieu à Ottawa, ON à l’Hôtel Lord Elgin le 1er mars 2012,avec 21 membres et des représentants de l’industrie présents. Enplus de notre président, M. Andrew Shufelt, Linda Ness et JennyHenchoz, nous avions la chance d’avoir la présence du présidentd’Ayrshire USA, M. Steve MacDonald, Claude LeRault de Phizer, leconseiller de l’Est d’Holstein Canada, M. Chris MacLeod ainsi que leséleveurs Larry & Wilma Park du Manitoba. Après avoir procédé auxlectures des procès-verbaux et des rapports, le groupe a eu unebonne discussion concernant la façon dont nous utilisons notreargent. Nous avons tenté de décider comment notre budget de pub-licité pourrait être le mieux utiliser et où nous pourrions réduire lescoûts.

Dave et Darryl ont présenté leurs rapports de conseillers, les deuxdisant qu’ils tenteront de faire un plus grand effort à visiter les mem-bres ainsi que des non-membres. Cynthia a présenté son Rapport duComité d’amélioration de la race, et a demandé à Bernard d’élabor-er sur à un séminaire sur la taille des sabots auquel il a assisté àMaxville. Bernard a mentionné que les tailleurs de sabots se tour-nent de plus en plus vers un logiciel informatique afin d’établir l’ha-bileté des taureaux à transmettre de sabots en bonne santé. Ceciserait un outil très utile pour la race afin de localiser tous problèmespotentiels à l’avenir.

Une longue discussion s’est amorcée sur probablement la plusgrande question du moment; l’investissement d’Ayrshire Canadadans Trans-America Génétiques et le vote imminent qui devait sur-venir le lendemain à l’Assemblée générale annuelle. Henri Hofer et

Andrew Shufelt ontrépondu aux questionset soucis des éleveurs, etont fait un bon travail àexpliquer les différentsscénarios qui pourraientdécouler de ce vote.Entre tous les membresdu Conseil présents à laréunion, ils ont tous faitun excellent travail àexpliquer la position oùils se trouvent présente-ment, et ce que pour-raient être les con-séquences potentielles.

Puisque les éleveurs du Québec avaient présenté une résolutionpour l’AGA nationale, Bernard a demandé aux éleveurs de l’Ontarios’ils voulaient présenter une résolution. Une résolution fut présentée,mais défaite. Bernard a demandé de poursuivre, puisque le prob-lème pourra être discuté plus profondément à l’AGA nationale.

Bill Hampson, Darryl & Harold Smith travailleront ensemble à tenterde fournir la paille pour la Foire agricole Royale d’hiver à nouveauen 2012. En tant que Club, nous supportons financièrement ce pro-jet chaque année, et cette année nous aurons aussi le support finan-cier de la South Western Ayrshire Club.

Dave a mentionné les visites du samedi qui débuteront à 9h30 àSunnymead Farms, où le dîner sera servi à l’église de Vernon avant

Bill Hampson, and Darryl & Harold Smith will be working togetherto donate straw for the Royal Winter Fair again in 2012. As a club,we do financially support this venture each year, and this year wewill have financial support from the South Western Ayrshire Club aswell.

Dave mentioned that the tours for Saturday will start at 9:30 atSunnymead Farms, and lunch will be served at thechurch in Vernon before heading to Tilecroft Farms.Bernard mentioned that the GDS Spring ShowcaseSale would be March 26 and invited everyone toattend. The meeting adjourned at 12:18 and wedeparted by bus for Rosayre for lunch and a tour.We spent the afternoon viewing the heifers that aregoing to be auctioned off at the National banquetthe following evening and enjoying the hospitalityof the Rose’s.

We topped off the night with a terrific banquet atthe aviation museum. James Cotton was awardedthe Ayrshire Appreciation Award, and we presentedour All Ontario and Production Awards. Thank youvery much to Norman Boswall and all who organized this fantasticevent. Thanks also to Ken & Shirley for hosting the sale animals,and for opening their barn for all of us to tour. The organization isonly as strong as its members, and we definitely have a lot of mem-bers with a lot of heart and dedication.

Merci aussi Ken et ShirleyRose pour nous avoir reçus pour lavente d’animaux, et ouvert sesportes pour une visite de ferme.

L’organisation est aussi forte que le sont ses membres, et nous avonsdéfinitivement énormémement de membres qui ont beaucoup decœur et de dévouement.

La 9e édition du Salon International Laitier se tenait les 12 et 13 avril dernierà Saint-Hyacinthe. Les visiteurs étaient nombreux et sûrement que vous yétiez vous-mêmes! Le Salon International Laitier représente la plus importanteexposition de races colorées de l’Est du Canada. Elle est rendue possiblegrâce à la collaboration et au travail d’équipe des associations de racesAyrshire, Brown Swiss, Canadienne et Jersey qui s’unissent pour créer unévénement unique qui attire d’année en année de plus en plus de visiteurs.

Le coût d’envoi des activités a été donné ce jeudi 12 avril dès 15 h avec latenue de la Vente Élite de printemps. La vente des 27 sujets Ayrshire degrande qualité a permis d’atteindre une moyenne très respectable de 3 774 $.Le plus haut prix de la vente est revenu à Du Petit Pont Love-ET consignéepar François Phoenix de Saint-Eulalie au Québec. Félicitations à Mario etMaxime Henderson et Frances Simard pour l’acquisition d’une exceptionnelleFemelle 2 ans junior pour la somme de 9 200 $. C’est la sœur propre deLessard Calimero Lorelli TB-88 qui a obtenu le deuxième plus haut prix de lavente. Lessard Calimero Lorelli 2, une superbe Génisse Intermédiaire, a étéacquise par la Ferme Jean-Guy Faucher et Fils de Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce auQuébec pour 7 500 $. De tels résultats révèlent l’engouement pour la raceAyrshire et lui offrent une place enviable sur les scènes locale, nationale etinternationale.

Le succès de la Vente Élite de printemps Ayrshire 2012 repose certes sur laqualité des sujets offerts dans l’enchère, mais également sur le travail del’équipe de gérance et de préparation des animaux. Il est également primor-dial pour La Société Ayrshire du Québec de prendre quelques instants pourgratifier l’excellent travail de l’équipe avec laquelle Alexandre a travaillédurant la semaine de la vente : Angèle Hébert, Pascale Daoust, PascalBourgault, Dale Macfarlane, Marie-Pier Allard, Éric Bilodeau, François Rioux,André Richard, Richard Ferland, Neil Kittle, Janie Côté, Mireille Cloutier,Patricia Fontaine, Francis Roberge, Linda Ness et Yves Charpentier. The 9th edition of the International Dairy Showcase was held on April 12th

and 13th in Saint-Hyacinthe. There were a large number of visitors, surelyyou were there too! The International Dairy Showcase is the most impor-tant coloured breed show in Eastern Canada. It is made possible thanks tothe collaboration and team work of the Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Canadienneand Jersey breed associations joining together to create an unique eventthat attracts more and more visitors from one year to the next.

The activities were launched on Thursday April 12th at 3:00 p.m. with theElite Spring Sale. The sale of the 27 Ayrshire high-quality animals made itpossible to reach a very respectable average of $3,774. The highest price ofthe sale was paid for Du Petit Pont Love-ET consigned by François Phoenixof Saint-Eulalie in Québec. Congratulations to Mario & Maxime Hendersonand Frances Simard for having purchased an exceptional Junior 2-year-oldfemale for the amount of $9,200. She is the full sister to Lessard CalimeroLorelli VG-88 who obtained the second highest price of the sale. De retour cette année, le kiosque de dégustation de fromages a permis auxvisiteurs et exposants présents lors de la journée du jugement de découvrirun délicieux fromage, le Tremblay, de la Fromagerie l’Autre-Versant, propriétéde Stéphane Tremblay et Chantale Lalancette. Un gros merci à la fromageriepour ces produits!

La Zone CIAQ a permis aux éleveurs de profiter des conseils génétiques desemployés de l’entreprise. Ces derniers étaient présents tout au long del’événement afin de répondre aux besoins des éleveurs et de les conseiller enmatière de choix de taureaux. Encore cette année, les éleveurs Ayrshire pou-vaient se procurer de la semence sur place avec plusieurs pourcentages derabais. De plus, le CIAQ a fait le lancement d’un nouveau taureau : FaucherHomerun, fils de Faucher Loto Opa EX-96 2E, nominée plusieurs fois All-Canadian, par l’un des meilleurs taureaux en conformation de la raceAyrshire : Mapleburn Remington. N’hésitez pas pour faire l’utilisation de cetaureau car il sera certainement améliorateur de plusieurs sujets dans votretroupeau. Un gros merci au CIAQ pour ces services qui ont été très appréciéautant des exposants que des visiteurs.

Cet événement n’aurait pu avoir lieu sans le travail, le support et l’appui desassociations des races, des généreux commanditaires et surtout des exposantsqui travaillent avec acharnement d’année en année afin de faire la promotionde la Ayrshire canadienne. Les exposants doivent être fiers de cet événementoù leur race a été bien représentée, et ce, puisqu’il s’agit d’une excellente vit-rine pour notre génétique canadienne. The 2012 edition of the International Dairy Showcase continued with thejudging presentation on Friday April 13th. The Ayrshire show featured 117individuals of exceptional quality. It was François Beaudry of Granby inQuébec who had the privilege of acting as the official judge for the day,and he did it extremely well. He awarded the title of Junior Champion toChaluka Nemo Xioli ET, first Senior 1-year-old Female, owned by FermeCharest (2001) Inc., ahead of Vieux Village C Henriette, first Intermediate1-year-old Female, owned by Florent, Vicky & Bianca Foley, and SablièreOblique Astéroide, second Intermediate 1-year-old Female, owned byFerme Sablière 2007 Inc. The title of Intermediate Champion went toBonnie Brae Phoenix ET, owned by Ken & Shirley Rose, ahead of TerraceBank Elana, owned by Terrace Bank Farms Inc and Élégance DistinctionSheila, owned by Ferme Élégance Inc. and Ferme Distinction. The top hon-ours of the day were given to the winner of the Adult Cow Class, LombardDale Wilton Icing, owned by Ferme Bavaroise as well as Charpentier,Roberge & Alholm. Icing received the Grand Champion Rosette ahead ofRosayre BB Rebel, second Adult Cow, owned by Ken & Shirley Rose ofMountain in Ontario and Rosayre BB Kamero, first 5-year-old Female,owned by Paul Hampson of Woodstock in Ontario. Again this year, the cheese-tasting booth allowed for visitors and exhibitorsattending the judging day to discover a delicious cheese, the Tremblay,from Fromagerie l’Autre-Versant, owned by Stéphane Tremblay andChantale Lalancette. A huge thank you to the cheese dairy for these prod-ucts!

The CIAQ Zone allowed for the breeders to benefit from the genetic coun-seling provided by the employees of the organization. They were presentthroughout the event to answer the breeder needs and to advise them intheir choice of bulls. Again this year, Ayrshire breeders could purchasesemen on site with several percentage discounts. Also, CIAQ launched anew sire: Faucher Homerun, son of Faucher Loto Opa EX-96 2E, severaltimes All-Canadian nomination, out of one of the top type sires in theAyrshire breed: Mapleburn Remington. Do not hesitate to use this sire ashe will certainly be an improver for several individuals in your herd. Manythanks to CIAQ for supplying these services that were greatly appreciatedby both exhibitors and visitors.

This event could not have happened without the work and the support ofthe breed association, the generous sponsors and mainly the exhibitorswho work relentlessly year after year in order to promote the CanadianAyrshire. The exhibitors must be proud of this event where their breed waswell represented and resulted in an excellent showcase for our Canadiangenetics. In short, proud Ayrshire breeders, together we have once againproven that the breed can compete, even with other breeds. Let’s gettogether on April 11th and 12th 2013 for the 10th edition!

C’est avec plein de souvenirs mémorables que les 60 participants duCanada sont revenus de la Conférence Mondiale Ayrshire, qui a eulieu en Afrique du Sud. Plusieurs de ces participants sont demeuréspour les 3 semaines d’activités, qui jour après jour, était toujours desplus attrayantes.

C’est après deux jours de repos à Sun City que les participants sontentrés dans l’ambiance de la Conférence en débutant avec les activ-ités reliées à l’exposition, soit la vente. Les 18 sujets de la vente ontremporté une moyenne de 22,250.00 rands soit 3179 dollars cana-diens. Le lendemain après-midi avait lieu le jugement des taures etle juge, monsieur David Mayo de l’Australie avait le plaisir dedécerner le titre de Championne Junior à la gagnante de la classe21-24 mois, soit Grace Valley Ideo Stars H20, propriété de KevinLang. Ce dernier s’est également mérité la classe de Troupeaud’éleveur junior. C’est une fille de Palmyra Tri-Star Reality qui aobtenu le titre de Championne Junior de Réserve, propriété de

Maans Kotze & Edmunds Els. LaMention honorable a été remise à lagagnante de la classe 15-18 mois,également une fille de Reality, pro-priété de Rhodes Food Group Pty Ltd.Un bon nombre de vaches ont défiléavant que la Grande championne duJugement national soit annoncée, etc’est la gagnante de la classe des 2 anset demi à 3 ans qui a obtenu ces hon-neurs, suite à son titre de ChampionneIntermédiaire et Championne de pis.Cette fille de Bonnie Brae Ambushs’est notamment démarquée grâce àses membres et son pis exceptionnel.Elle a fait la joie de son propriétaire,soit Raigmore Trust. Le titre de GrandeChampionne de réserve fut décernée àune fille de Labrie Wilton, appartenantaussi à Rhodes Food Group Pty Ltd,gagnante de la classe 5-6 ans. Leséleveurs canadiens ont apprécié voir

plusieurs descendantes de taureauxnord-américains ainsi que ce jugement de très bonne qualité.

Suite à ces 3 jours passés à l’exposition de Bloemfontein, le groupec’est dirigé vers les montagnes de Drakensberg et le pittoresque vil-

It was with fond memories that the 50 Canadian participantsreturned home from the World Ayrshire Conference that took placein South Africa. Many participants stayed for the 3 weeks of activi-ties that were very interesting, day by day.

After two days of rest in Sun City the participants entered into theConference ambiance beginning with the activities related to theExhibition, first the sale. The 18 animals at the sale sold for an aver-age of 22,250.00 rands or 3179 Canadian dollars. The next day, inthe afternoon, the heifer show took place and the judge, Mr. DavidMayo of Australia had the pleasure of awarding the title of JuniorChampion to the winner of the 21-24 mo. class, Grace Valley IdeoStars H20, owned by Kevin Lang. He had also won the Junior Herdclass. A daughter of Palmyra Tri-Star Reality was awarded the titleof Reserve Junior Champion, owned by Maans Kotze & Edmund Els.The Honorable Mention went to the winner of the 15-18 mo. class,also a daughter of Reality, owned by Rhodes Food Group Pty Ltd.A good number of cows paraded before the Grand Champion of theNational Show was selected, it was thewinner of the 2 to 3½ class whoobtained the honors after winning hertitle of Intermediate Champion andUdder Champion to the great pleasureof her owner Walter Fihlayson,Raigmore Trust. This daughter ofBonnie Brae Ambush notably distin-guished herself due to her legs andexceptional udder. The title of ReserveGrand Champion went to a LabrieWilton daughter, also belonging toRhodes Food Group Pty Ltd, winner ofthe 5-6 year old class. The Canadianbreeders appreciated seeing manydescendents of North-American bulls aswell as a Show of very good quality.The embryo sale took place in theevening to conclude this sequence ofactivities that was also an incrediblesuccess, with an average of $600 perembryo.

Quoi de plus intéressant que d’avoir des nou-velles des autres pays membres et une belle Conférence duDirecteur général de Woolworths, compagnie qui en 1987, cherchaà commercialiser le lait au meilleur goût possible. Après plusieursrecherches, le lait ‘Ayrshire’ remporta la palme. C’est donc de cetterecherche que les éleveurs Ayrshire de l’Afrique du Sud peuventvendre leur lait uniquement Ayrshire aux usines qui adaptent leurtransformation selon cette demande. Après avoir eu la chance devisiter ces deux installations de transformation de lait, soit Homseket Fairfield Factory qui travaillant toutes deux avec Woolworths, onse rend compte de l’importance de ce marché.

Pour compléter le volet Conférence, quoi de mieux qu’une belle « leçon de vie »…Docteur Wayne Derman, médecin spécialisé enmédecine sportive qui a eu l’honneur de travailler avec l’équipepara-olympique de l’Afrique du Sud s’est déplacé afin de venirpartager avec nous cette expérience et la chance qu’il a eu de vivreavec ces sportifs. Une vente d’embryon a eu lieu en soirée pour clô-turer cette séquence des activités et fut un immense succès égale-ment, avec une moyenne de 600$ par embryon.

La troisième partie fut consacrée uniquement à des safaris auBotswana ainsi qu’a une journée passée au Zimbabwe où nousavons pu admirer les magnifiques et imposantes Chutes Victoria.Cinq courageux Canadiens uniquement, mentionnons le, ont suprofiter de ces chutes de 108 mètres de hauteur et plus de 1700mètres de largeur pour vivre des sensations fortes en sautant enBungie du célèbre pont des chutes.

After numerous experiments,the “Ayrshire” milk was the winner Therefore, since then the SouthAfrican Ayrshire breeders sell their exclusively Ayrshire milk to fac-tories who adapt the transformation to fill this demand. After hav-ing had the chance of visiting two installations, Homsek andFairfield Factory who both work with Woolworths, we realize theimmportance of this market.

To complete this Conference section, what would be better that abeautiful “lesson in life”…..Dr. Wayne Derman, specializing insports medicine who had the honor of working with the SouthAfrican para-olympic team came to share the beautiful experiencehe had while he lived with these athletes.

The third part was uniquely reserved for safaris in Botswana as wellas a day in Zimbabwe where we admired the magnificent andimposing Victoria Falls that measure 108 metres high and 1700metres wide! Only five courageous Canadians (only Canadians),took advantage of the situation by Bungie Jumping these meter highfalls for a thrill from the famous Falls Bridge.

La générosité des Africains, les paysages à couper le souffle, ladiversité des terres ne furent que quelques points qui ont rendu cevoyage si parfait. Des visites de fermes exceptionnelles, où les vach-es sont aux pâturages à l’année, nous ont totalement dépaysés etmontrés de nouvelles méthodes de gestions d’entreprises. On nepeut passer sous silence les fermes visitées : soit le troupeaud’Anton Homsek, Lamprecht, Riaan Reynders, Far View, Kevin Lang,Rhodes Food Group, Maan Kotze, Robert Blom, Jan Wessels & AlecMuller. C’est avec fierté qu’ils nous ont montré leur façon de tra-vailler et de gérer leur entreprise dans ce pays.

Le voyage n’aurait jamais été le même sans la présence de ces gensmerveilleux. Merci Shannon, Jessica, Frederic, Creig, Edmund,Walter, Alec & Barti et Kevin bien sûr, et également tous les partic-ipants des autres pays présents. Vous avez fait en sorte que cetteConférence fut mémorable et vous nous avez démontré que la pas-sion Ayrshire est bien présente partout dans le monde.

The African’s generosity, breathtaking sceneries and diversity ofland were only a few points that rendered this trip so perfect.Exceptional farm visits where the cows are at pasture year roundgiving us a glimpse into different methods of business managementsuch as Anton Homsek’s herd, Lamprecht, Riaan Reynders, FarView, Kevin Lang, Rhodes Food Group, Maan Kotze, Robert Blom,Jan Wessels & Alec Muller. It was with great pride that they showedus how they work and manage their business in their country.

The trip would never have been the same without the presence ofthese marvelous people. Thank you to Shannon, Jessica, Frederic,Craig, Edmund, Walter, Alec & Barti and Kevin of course and alsoto all the participants from other member countries. You made thisConference memorable and you have showed us that the Ayrshireenthusiasm is very present throughout the world.

The New Brunswick Ayrshire Breeders' Association gathered for our 90th

annual meeting this year in Edmunston, NB on March 29, 2012.President John Riordon welcomed those breeders who were present.Congratulations were extended to Frank Waterston and his family ontheir recent Master Breeder award, received at this year's AnnualGeneral meeting in Ottawa. It was noted that as far as anyone remem-bers, this is the first Master Breeder award for a New Brunswick Ayrshireherd. Good Job Frank! Marior Lavoie gave abrief summary of the Ayrshire picnic hostedby Lashburn Farm last summer and notedthat it was a great event and should be heldevery year. Members voted to continue theirsponsorship of youth related activities, suchas the EastGen showcase and the 4-HClassic, to encourage the participation ofyoung people showing Ayrshire cattle.Members also voted to sponsor the pur-chase of an Ayrshire cow for a non profitorganization called Partners for Youth inWoodstock, NB. They are developing a pro-gram for at risk youth using a farm basedintegrated learning centre, with the focus onhands on learning. The farm and organizationwishes to have every breed of dairy cow rep-resented on the farm and will be hosting school and community basedevents. Members voted for the executive to remain the same, with JohnRiordon as President, Mary Ellen Trueman as Vice President and FrankWaterston as Secretary/Treasurer. At the conclusion of our meeting, wecelebrated our 90th anniversary with some birthday cake. We then trav-elled onto La Ferme Republique, where we viewed Mario Lavoie's con-signment for the Elite Sale in Saint Hyacinthe, Republique Zulata, aKellcrest Landscape daughter by Republique Ulata GP83 (Kansas xJerry), who has a contract with Semex. Thank You for showing us yourgreat Ayrshire cows Mario!

L’Association des éleveurs Ayrshire du Nouveau-Brunswick s’est rassem-blée pour sa 90e Assemblée annuelle, le 20 mars 2012, à Edmunston, NB.Le président, John Riordon, a souhaité la bienvenue aux éleveursprésents. Des félicitations ont été offertes à Frank Waterston et sa famillepour leur récent titre de Maitre-éleveur qu’ils ont reçu à l’Assembléegénérale annuelle à Ottawa. Il fut noté, que d’aussi loin qu’on puisse serappeler, c’est le premier titre de Maître-éleveur d’un troupeau Ayrshire au

Nouveau-Brunswick. Beau travail, Frank! MarioLavoie a présenté un bref sommaire du pique-nique Ayrshire à Lashburn Farm l’été dernier etnoté que ce fut un événement exceptionnel quidevrait avoir lieu chaque année. Les membresont voté de poursuivre la commandite d’activ-ités reliées aux jeunes, tels que l’ EastGenShowcase et la Classique 4-H, afin d’encouragerles jeunes à montrer leurs animaux Ayrshire.Les membres ont aussi voté en vue de com-mandité l’achat d’une vache Ayrshire pour unorganisme à but non lucratif appelé Partners forYouth à Woodstock, NB.
