Two seasons ago, on March 29, 2016, the Pens also fellbehind 3-0, before rallying to win 5-4 in a shootout. SEASON HIGHLast night’s win in Buffalo ran the Penguins winning streak to a season-high three-straight games, the second time this year thatPittsburgh has rattled off wins in three-consecutive contests (also Oct. 14-20). Not only can the Penguins set a new high water mark forconsecutive victories tonight, but the Pens can also set a season high for their longest stretch earning points (also currently at 3games). WHAT A WEEKGoalie Tristan Jarry had himself quite an eventful week over the previous seven days. First, he earned both his first NHL win and point(assist) on Nov. 25 against Tampa Bay. Two days later, he earned a second-straight win, this time in relief of an injured Matt Murrayagainst Philadelphia. Quickly thrust into the spotlight of assuming No. 1 goaltending chores for the immediate future while Murray is out,Jarry’s first start in that role was a 34-save blanking of Buffalo last night, his first NHL shutout. Jarry’s 34 saves were the third-most infranchise history by a goaltender while recording his first NHL shutout behind Joe Daley (41 saves; 2/19/1969 vs. BOS) and SteveGuenette (38 saves; 3/19/1988 vs. PHI).Murray is officially week-to-week with a lower-body injury. ON THE BOARDTom Kuhnhackl erased a 45-game goalless stretch by converting a penalty shot last night. Before yesterday, Kuhnhackl’s last tallywas March 3 of last season against Tampa Bay. Kuhnhackl’s score was the first successful penalty shot by a Penguins player in nearlya year. Bryan Rust converted against Ottawa on Dec. 5, 2016.It was the second career game-winning goal for Kuhnhackl. His first came on March 20, 2016 against Washington. STREAK TIMECaptain Sidney Crosby carries a season-long five-game point streak (5G-6A-11PTS) into tonight’s contest. He also has goals in four-straight contests, which is also a season high.Going back further, Crosby has at least one point in seven of his past eight contests (6G-8A-14PTS).Jake Guentzel tallied again last night in Buffalo, giving him seven goals in his past seven games. His goal was his 12th of the season, which leads the team, one higher than Crosby and Phil Kessel.
