Fly Me To The Moon!

March 2019 TBA, Holiday Hills Ballroom

We had such a fun time last January celebrating the

wonderful Bing Crosby with music and memories it

seemed a good idea to honor another American mu-

sical legend: the incomparable Frank Sinatra. Our

March social will focus on this amazing man and his

music. Please be thinking about your own personal

favorite Sinatra tunes and memories, and if you

would like to be one of the club members sharing a

song or two (or more!) and stories of how Frank Si-

natra has been important to you. One of our club or-

ganists would love to accompany your vocal solos,

play a piano/organ duet, or maybe you’d like to take

a turn on the beautiful George Wright theatre organ.

“Mile High Banjo Society”

The Mile High Banjo Society put smiles on our faces

at our November social with a packed-program of

old standards, bluegrass and Dixieland tunes. Donna

Smith did her best Sophie Tucker impression!

“Hunchback of Notre Dame” Well-known Detroit organist Lance Luce did an

outstanding job accompanying this classic 1923

feature-length silent film on the Lakewood Cultural

Center's STR-4 organ in October. Lance's

accompaniment was imaginative and beautiful, and

made wonderful use of this organ's amazing

resources. LCC House Manager Linda Black is

renown for dressing up as a character from the

featured movie and her “Esmeralda” was winsome

and je ne sais quoi. C’est magnifique! Merci!

“DeLoy’s Generations Trio!”

Back again by popular request DeLoy Goeglein and

the Generations Jazz Trio returned to the Holiday

Hills ballroom in September for another well-re-

ceived pro-

gram of jazz

and pop

tunes that

were fun to

listen to.

Bandleader

Marianne

Finch sings

and plays

bass, her son

Dino plays the drums and also sings, and DeLoy

plays the piano with his smooth, relaxed style. Fol-

lowing intermission DeLoy played a nice program

on the GW4Q digital theatre organ.

Time to say “Thanks!”
