Our Mission
The results of e-SPECS customer survey show that 84% of customers who use BPM specs are more likely to use those already integrated into the e-SPECS.
Activities such as searching the Internet, reviewing data, downloading, retyping and reformatting specs, and coordinating them with other sections, are time consuming and tedious. BPMs can make it easy for customers to integrate their specs into e-SPECS. BPMs providing BIM families for their products can get them specified automatically into projects based on their BIM families. Failure to provide a BIM family often means that instead someone else’s product gets specified.
Why building product manufacturers should offer BIM families
Pinnacle’s BIM family development division specializes in creating product models for BPMs. Manufacturers can conveniently showcase models on their websites in various levels of detail. BIM family models can be parametric. This means a single model can represent multiple product types, sizes and configurations listed in the product catalog. For example, a window which comes in various sizes and materials can be represented by a single parametric BIM family model. This model can dynamically transform and adapt to every available type and size of a particular design configuration.

Survey results
Results show that 66% of BIM users need custom families for more than 50% of their projects. As many as 98% of users search the Internet for downloadable families.
The biggest concern with downloads is quality. No wonder that 87% doubt whether downloaded families will work correctly and 55% worry about how they will look in the scene. About half of the respondents said that the BIM families belonged to the company where they worked, not to them personally.
Some customers are concerned with hardware limitations when downloading larger models.

How we responded to the survey results
We introduced certification. All the BIM families published for sale at the BIM Market are subjected to a certification process. A certified family must have correct parametric functionality and work according to specifications. Soon customers will be able to tell at a glance whether a family is certified while shopping at the BIM Market. They will also be able to limit their search to certified content. The widget enabling content certification is about to enter the BIM Market.
We created Rollover Royalty Accounts. Because so many BIM libraries are owned by companies, we have introduced a payment method to deal with this, which is called Rollover Account where a BIM Market account is opened on behalf of the company, not an individual. In this way, families are published on behalf of the company. All sales royalties from each month are rolled into a credit account for the entire company or a department. Thus, revenue generated by a BIM department can be used by to purchase more families.
We offer three levels of model complexity to address hardware limitations of various users.
