The ArielsEureka Springs, Arkansas

The Ariels were voted Eureka Spring’s Favorite Band in 2002 and continue to enjoy a growing fan base. The group’s versatility allows them to glide between many genres. The Ariels perform regularly for the region’s top clubs, as well as the Eureka Springs Jazz Fest and Eureka Springs Blues Fest.

Rock n’ Roll, Rhythm and Blues originals and interesting arrangements of classic and current favorites make up the set list of this four member group.

The artful percussion of Tony Walker skillfully drives the band through the hard-hitting rock numbers to the soulful slow Blues. It is no wonder Tony is the most sought after drummer in the Ozarks. The Ariels are very proud to have Eureka’s Musician of the Year 2002 for their drummer.

Pat “Bear” Griffith must have forty fingers to deliver the irresistible funky bass that fills the dance floor. Bear lends his sincere voice on a few original Ariels tunes and harmonies on others.

David Burks delivers plenty of punch with his powerful voice, energy-charged guitar playing, and when he takes harmonica solos he has the audience’s full attention. David’s hillbilly upbringing lends authentic-ity to his vocals, but his early musical influences blend together to create spicy samba feeling grooves as well as full tilt boogies.

Add to this power trio the sultry vocals of Karen FitzPatrick who sparkles with boundless energy and uncontrollable stage presence.

Claudia BursonFayetteville, Arkansas

Claudia Burson, who will be performing Friday evening, September 11th at the Pinnacle Hills Arts & Food Festival, has a unique and instantly recognizable voice. She is a stylist who can breathe new life into a standard, magically infusing her soulfulness and personality into the music. Claudia grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Her interest in music was sparked early on, and she began playing piano at age eight. Classical lessons followed, along with encouragement from her uncle, Kermit Burson, who was a professional guitarist. Claudia’s musical training continued through her school years, and upon entering college she studied classical piano with Beatriz Pilapil at the University of Arkansas.

In 1976, Claudia enrolled at Berklee School of Music in Boston, followed by a fruitful period of perfor-mances in Houston, Texas, where she met and played with people like Don Wilkerson and Arnett Cobb to name a couple of her favorites. Since returning to Fayetteville in 1998, Claudia has gained a regional following through her many perfor-mances. Her newly-released CD marks her long-awaited debut recording as a leader. The recording has the advantage of showcasing Claudia with her working rhythm section, Steve Wilkes on drums and Mike Johnson on bass. The extraordinary empathy among these musicians was earned through regular gigs and countless club dates, festivals, and a featured performance in the Walton Arts Center’s Jazz Series.

Kyla HortonFayetteville, Arkansas

Kyla Horton, 22, is from the community of Marshall Arkansas and is an aspiring country music entertainer. She has been performing since the age of nine. At the age of 12, Kyla started performing in Branson in various theaters such as Braschlers, Starlite, Shepherd of the Hills, Jennifer’s Americana, Lawrence Welk, Yakov, and Silver Dollar City’s Riverfront Playhouse and Gazebo Stage.

Kyla also performed the entire 2002 entertainment season in Branson with Ed McMahon at the Majestic Theater. At the age of 17, Kyla left Branson to start touring her home state of Arkansas. Over the past six years, she has become a regular at many festivals. Last year, she had the honor of being the opening act for Bryan White, Aaron Tippin, and Ty Herndon. Kyla has been honored with numerous awards and accolades for her vocal talent. She is currently working diligently on a new CD with a mix of original songs from Nashville and some of her favorite cover songs.

Kyla describes the stage as her oxygen, in other words it is the place where she feels most alive. Kyla is currently a senior at UCA in Conway, Arkansas where she is majoring not in music, but in Interior Design. Even though Kyla is very dedicated to her education, where she has been a member of the Dean and President’s list every semester, however, her passion remains her music.

Her ambition for the future is to become a professional entertainer, not only for herself but also for the people of her community. She would like to show through her example that it is okay to dream. Kyla would like to express that even though you may come from a small town, don’t let your dreams be only as big as the community you live in, but as big as the world that surrounds you.

The Kimbo bandSan Antonio, Texas

Kimbo is self taught on guitar and drawing on such varied influences as U2, Indigo Girls & Phish. With a powerfully haunting voice, a unique rhythmic guitar style which avoids conventional chords, & evocative, thought provoking lyrics, her style is all her own.

Michael has had the great opportunity to have played with many talented musicians since grade school. It has molded his playing into what you hear today. Michael attributes most of his style to a drummer who took his own life many years ago by the name of Jason Purtle. At 10 years old when his older broth-er’s band wasn’t around Michael would get behind Jason’s kit and do his best to play along with “Good Day” by The Buck Pets from their self-titled album. Shortly there after, Michael’s mom matched him $250 dollars of summer lawn mowing money for his first drum set on Christmas of 1989.

Stephen Brueggerhoff excels as a bass player passionate about playing for the song. His sound emotes subtle texture complementing enriching resonate tone. Stephen is a solid pocket player with a joyful playful side. There are hints of great bass influences such as Phil Lesh, James Jamerson, Oteil Burbridge and Mick Karn in his style. Stephen continues to grow musically with The Kimbo Band, bringing 15 years of recording and live performance experience in support of a captivating artist.

The Kimbo Band was forged by Kimbo and Michael after a chance interaction more than six years after they met and worked together. The impact of this meeting was obvious and extraordinary. Only a few weeks later another chance encounter landed Stephen in their practice space immediately forming The Kimbo Band. The chemistry these three share is a site to be seen live.

The Kimbo Band is a strong trio with a cohesive force that unites an audience into a sound jumping frenzy.

LaFuSoBella Vista, Arkansas

LaFuSo will set the stage on fire at the Pinnacle Hills Arts & Food Festival in Northwest Arkansas. LaFuSo is the high-energy Latin, Fusion, Blues and Soul musical group that gets the crowd on their feet and their hands in the air.

Lead singer Liz Lottmann’s performances have earned her the respect of musicians and audiences alike. She has worked her way through the blues and jazz clubs of the U.S., Europe, Japan, South and Central America and Canada.

While touring with her own bands, she also frequently sang with Donn McMinn’s Memphis Blues Revue, whose players included Jeff “Stick” Davis and Billy Earheart of Amazing Rhythm Aces, and Willie Hall of The Blues Brothers. She has shared the stage and jammed with artists such as Taj Mahal, the Nighthawks, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, and Spyro Gyra. Liz is proud to be born-and-raised in Northeast Arkansas. While still in high school there, she began composing and performing her own special brand of “barbed-wire” folk. She was a solo artist at Memphis coffeehouses and soon attracted the attention of Judd Phillips, who produced an album of her original songs at Sun Studios in midtown Memphis.

Band leader Jürgen Lottomann moved to the U.S. in 1988 from Jügenheim, Germany, a little town located between Frankfurt and Heidelberg. He lived for some time in Nashville, Tennessee and now lives in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He studied percussion in 1982-84 at the Ralf Moufang Percussion School in Darmstadt, Germany.

In 1992 Jürgen produced and appeared in an instructional videotape for congas and bongos, which is distributed throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada.




Ashlyn MethenyFayetteville, Arkansas

Ashlyn Metheny has a passion for singing. Since her first public performance at her third-grade talent show, when she stunned everyone with the sequined costume that she designed and her undeniable talent, Ashlyn has been wowing audiences with her powerful voice. Cultivating her dynamic stage personality has been a focus of Ashlyn’s since she was quite young, when she used her parent’s bed for a stage, and a hairbrush for a microphone playing and practicing for hours every day after school. “I wasn’t born into a family of singers”, says Ashlyn, “it’s just something I’ve always known I wanted to do.” In 2004, at the age of 14, Ashlyn won the Colgate Country Showdown, and earned the honor of performing at the Arkansas State Fair. “Winning that competition against so many talented per-formers gave me such a feeling of accomplishment, and that night in Little Rock was so perfect. It was my first time on a big stage with professional musicians. I loved every minute of it.”

As an entertainer, Ashlyn is in demand. Visit the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair, the Old Fort Days Rodeo, or the Greenwood Fourth of July Freedomfest, and you’ll find her charming the grandstands with a main stage prime-time set each year. She has opened for the national acts Ricochet, Ballen-tine, John Anderson, TJ Shepherd and Bobby Bare; performed in community theatre musicals and the Green Country Opry; and inspired audiences at numerous charity and social events throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Although she favors singing country music with what she calls a “pop twist”, Ashlyn is extremely versatile, pivoting between traditional country, R & B, rock ‘n roll, and contemporary Christian with surprising ease. Ashlyn’s versatility also shines in the different projects she undertakes, like singing lead and background vocals in various studios around her home--a skill that has provided her with many opportunities to work with accomplished songwriters.

Kory MontgomeryFayetteville, Arkansas

Kory Montgomery started playing at the age of 13 around Fayetteville, and has not slowed down since. The Kory Montgomery band was formed in 2004 to open for BB King in Indianola, MS. Since then, Kory has played hundreds of bars, festivals, radio shows, and events throughout the country with his band, including making it to the finals of the 2005 International Blues Challenge and sharing the stage with Earth Wind and Fire, Buddy Guy, and Lee Ritenour just to name a few.

In 2006 Kory received a scholarship from Steve Vai to attend The Grammy Foundations “Grammy Camp”. There he was mentored by Lee Ritenour, Steve Vai, Rickey Minor, Phillip Bailey, and many more of the music industry’s top executives. After the taste of the big city life and it’s vast opportunities, Kory move to Los Angeles, CA to study at Musicians Institute. With teachers like Jake Eckert (Dirty Dozen Brass Bands Guitarist), Stuart Ziff (War’s guitar player), and Ross Bolton (Al Jarreau ), Kory was quickly educated on the in’s and out’s of a professional musician.

After a year and a half of intensive musical study, he once again received the opportunity to open for BB King in Eureka Springs, AR. With Kory’s heart still in the south, he decided once again to relocate his band back towards the Northwest Arkansas area. Now at 21 years old, Kory’s primary focus is pushing this band to the next level in the music industry. With a skanky sound that can only be de-scribed as his own, and the vast caliber of players behind him; it seems to be only a matter of time before national success unfolds.




Red AmbitionFayetteville, Arkansas

Red Ambition is the “ambition” of lead vocalist and keyboard player, Anissa Thacker, our red-headed Dallas native. Tamara Henschell is the second lead vocalist in Red Ambition. She hails from Vancou-ver, Canada where she got her start performing in musical theater, where she was labeled a “triple threat” for combining great singing ability with dance and acting skills. Also a powerhouse vocalist, Tamara can hit high notes that will give you chills.

Red Ambition’s lead guitarist and back-up keyboard player, Jamie Anawaty, has been playing the guitar since he could hold one. Jamie thinks, speaks and dreams music. In fact, in his home is the recording studio where the band creates their demos. Talented in virtually every style of music, Jamie is a core member of the band and also sings lead on a selection of songs. He is originally from Texas but lived and performed in Chicago and Germany before coming to Fayetteville.

Arkansas native David Edwards was one of the first players Anissa found when forming Red Ambi-tion. At the time, David was playing with another band and showed up for practices only to help out until a full-time drummer came along. When the other players came together he soon realized that we had something special and quit his former band. He is acknowledged as one of the area’s best drum-mers and is the backbone of the band. Scott Higgins, another local from Arkansas, recently joined as Red Ambition’s full time bass player. No stranger to the stage, he has been an integral part of many local bands over the years. After many months of looking for the right player, Red Ambition was thrilled to find the perfect fit with Scott and is now moving close to their goal of having 100+ songs in their repertoire.




Staggering OddsFayetteville, Arkansas

The Odds are a five-piece Jam-Pop band from Fayetteville, Arkansas, playing original music with a ninja-like mix of cover songs. Their first CD, Stick It In Your Pocket, won Best Album at the 2004 Ozark Music Awards and “Album of the Year” at the NAMA awards. They also won Best New Band, Best Album Cover, Best Original Song, and the coveted Artist of the Year award.

The Odds have performed with Robert Randolph, The Wallflowers, Jimmie Vaughan and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, among others, and have been a returning feature at Fayetteville’s Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Festival. They contributed a song to “Band Together,” a benefit CD for the Northwest Arkansas Childrens Shelter -- and also “Sounds Made in the Mountains” a benefit CD featuring artists like The Cate Brothers, Wildwood, The Tickle, Sarah Hughes, and The Wooden Stares.
