U.S. Breast Cancer Facts• A woman has a 1 in 8 risk of developing breast cancer in her lifetime.

• Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women.

• An estimated 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed among women during 2008.

• An estimated 40,480 women and 450 men were expected to die from breast cancer in during 2008.

• One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, and one woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes

• The majority of women with breast cancer have no known significantfamilyhistoryorotherknown risk factors.

• Approximately 95% of all breast cancers occur in women 40 years of age and older.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been named

to Worth Magazine’s list of “America’s 100 Best Charities” and has invested more than $1 billion to the fightagainstbreastcancer.SGK has teamed with some of today’s biggest celebrities to produce a new series of promotional events entitled the Pink Carpet series.

The series will kick off on Oct. 1 in Los Angeles, visiting 29 cities across the country and end in New York City. Ellen DeGeneresistheofficialhostessandspokeswoman and will headline with Sheryl Crow, Christina Applegate and other celebrities.
