Hi Pilots- • "J
..It's very hard for me to believe that It has been 1'0'years'
since the devastation at Ground Zero in New York City. It isuplifting to see so many hours of television that have beendedicated to Ground Zero, 2011. The Freedom Tower will oneday soar 1776 feet into the New York skyline. The memorialpools have been completed and have been opened to the familiesof the 9/11 victims. Some said in interviews that the memorialgave them a kind of closure. I imagine that it did. One thingbothered me while looking at TV on Sunday. I did not see any ofthe news reporters (both local and national) with American flagson their lapels." I couldn't figure why." I hope that we,will au be ,encouraged to proudly display our flag (as so many of us did 10years ago) whenever the opportunity arises. Let's plan to fly "OldGlory" outside our housesand keep it in .our hearts forever. Letus never forget the price that many' have paid for the, freedomthat is ours. "
Pilotly,
Ann

Following the War of 1812, a great wave of Nationalistic spirit spread throughoutthe country.
Henry Ward Beechersaid:
"A thoughtful mind when it sees a nation's flag, sees not the flag, but the nationitself, and whatever may be its symbols, its insignia, he reads chiefly in the flag, thegovernment, the principles, the truths, the history that belongs to the nation that sets itforth. The American flag has been a symbol of Liberty and men rejoiced in it.
"The stars upon it were like the bright morning stars of God and the stripesupon it were beamsof morning light. As at early dawn, the stars shine forth even whileit glows light, and then as the sun advances that light breaks into banks and streamingliner of color, the glowing red and intense white striving together, and ribbing thehorizon with bars effulgent, so, on the American flag, stars and beams of many-coloredlights shine out together."
