COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS FEAST
A Christmas feast will be held at the
Makwa Community Centre
December 14th at 5:30 pm.
Turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served.
The Boys Drumming Group will be there doing a
song. This year we are asking community members
to donate a dessert item for the feast.
Please contact Danielle at 613-625-2173
or Natasha at 613 625 2259 if you wish to donate.
Meegwetch.
Sponsored by the Makwa Bingo
You are cordially invited
to join us in a celebration
of the holiday season.
PARENTS OF OPEONGO STUDENTS
The school year is off to a great start, with lots of things happening.
This year we welcomed a new First Nation Tutor, Virginia- Sarazin Lazenby has joined me at Opeongo, replacing Josh Tippins who went on to further his educational experiences. Virginia is a former student and has settled in well at Opeongo assisting our students in their classes. With that being said, this position is funded through Kagita Makim, Pikwakanagan, and The Renfrew County District School Board.
Students are required to have a Social Insurance Number before the end of Grade 9. I encourage parents of any Pikwakanagan students to please get a number and please send it to me at [email protected], or you can text me at 613-401-2550.
Mid-term report cards were sent home with the students on November 18th, any concerns please feel to contact the school.
Exams will be in January so attendance needs to be good this month as the term will end. We have a great amount of students in extracurricular sports this year which is great to see. Parents are always welcome to attend student games.
Some of our students have been helping out at EDPS with the Math project, assisting students and staff with bead looming. I am encouraging students, especially Graduates to get your community service hours in. Our Graduates are busy applying to Post Secondary programs, and we wish them well. Judy Ellis, Aboriginal School Support Counsellor
OFFICE CLOSURE
With the exception of the Tennisco Manor,
AoPFN offices will be closed from 12:00
noon on December 23, 2016 and will re-open
on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017.

SAFETY TIPS
Christmas Holidays are approaching again.
We need to be safe at all times.
Know your fire escape plan.
Smoke alarms save lives.
Know where to place them in all rooms for your safety
Carbon monoxide detectors should be placed in your
basement by your furnace room, and one by the
stairwell in your basement.
Smoke & Carbon Monoxide alarm saves lives.
BE SAFE.
Season’s Greetings from
Pikwakanagan Fire/Rescue.
