Perhaps it stood on the sandy shores of Wrightsville Beach or Kings Street in Boone, or just maybe Pike’s Rexall Drug Store on Church Street in Concord. It doesn’t matter where we hail from, nearly all of us have memories of some wonderful soda shop. The marble counters, the gleaming soda fountain, craftsman made stools and booths, stainless steel and tile walls drew you in; the milkshakes, sundaes, banana splits and sandwiches made you want to stay all day. It was run by family and that family made you feel like you belonged there.
