In this issue:

Holiday Wishes from Pijaubert!

Pijaubert Polo is a family-run polo farm in the South of France, and that’s what it’s always been: Ten years ago our dad built a polo ground at our house on the Côte d’Azur. Every year more and more of our university friends would come to stay and while they were here of course they learned to ride and play polo. In fact so

many of them came that two years ago we started running the farm as a business where people can come and stay, soak up the sun and the Riviera life-style and play polo too. The farm is now run entirely by Jamie and Alexia Pike who give beginner polo lessons and host our summer tournaments. This year

things have really kicked off. Read on to find out more…

Pijaubert Polo’s Season Opening with Le Tournoi des Mille Colonnes.

EQUUS A new stylish backdrop to our polo field was supplied by artist Mardi of Canada who sent s a wonderful glass sculpture from her Equus Collection. Last year, Mardi’s nine equine paintings were strung from tree to tree making an outdoor art exhibition right next to the polo field. After the match the paintings were unveiled one at a time, each by one of the polo players and Mardi herself. The art is now on exhibition inside the main house at Pijaubert Polo and is available for show to all our clients. For more information on Mardi and her paintings, feel free to explore her website mardi.ca

On Sunday 10th June we finally managed to open the season after having to postpone our first tournament by a month because of rainy Sundays ! And we're talking about the South of France ! Three teams, Pijaubert Polo (Alexia Pike, Caroline Pike, Hocine Boudouaia), Mille Colonnes (Jamie Pike, Ouari Beddou, Vincent Girard) and International Polo Guide ( Antoine Serval, Gary Pike, Ekaterina Prunkova) met for fun and games at Pijaubert with an action-packed Round-Robin played to an enthralled public who had travelled from Italy, Hong Kong, Iceland, Finland, Russia and Australia in what has become our own particular very-international style. The score of the final between Pijaubert Polo and International Polo Guide was put at one-nil by Hocine Boudouaia leaving Pijaubert Polo victorious.

Many thanks go to our regular and recurring sponsors Velier Italy and Remax France, and also to our new sponsors International Polo Guide, Mille Colonnes from Draguignan, and French Mortgage

Express.

Re/max Cup

1

On Sunday 15th July three teams contended the Remax Cup 2012 in a friendly round-robin here at Pijaubert. As usual guests came from far afield to participate in our Champagne and Chukkas event, including new friends from Italy with whom we hope to develop some serious polo-fun. The first round took place between the Remax team (Antoine Serval, Vincent Girard and Ouari Beddou) and the Huguenots (Gary Pike, Jamie Pike and Caroline Pike) the action was intense and finished two-nil for Remax. The winners left the ground and their place was taken by Pijaubert Polo (Alexia Pike, Hocine Boudouaia and Ekaterina Prunkova) again some really nice play was enjoyed by all including some mid-air

juggling from Alexia Pike who fished an air- shot from brother Jamie and to everybody's awe put it where it belonged (in the goal!). However this wasn’t enough to give Pijaubert victory this time and the final score was three-one for the Huguenots. The last match was played between Pijaubert Polo and the Remax team and was neck and neck the whole way,

Overall the winners were the Remax team (who won both their games) followed by Huguenots and Pijaubert Polo. Remax very generously distributed their winners' booty (a Jeroboam of Billecart-Salmon from Sponsors Velier of Italy) to an initially enthralled and subsequently tipsy crowd of spectators at the prize-giving :)

Pijaubert Polo at

SUPA  In June Jamie Pike went to the UK to the SUPA (Schools and Universities Polo Association) Indoor Arena Polo Nationals. There he helped to run the tournament, and played in the alumni event. His team won the Summer tournament and are now SAPA national champions. Well done to all !

Pijaubert Polo @ Abierto de

Palermo

Congratulations to Ekaterina Prunkova for completing her polo initiation with the final phase: Two weeks in polo heaven, Argentina. Her newly-found passion has taken her straight to the top, meeting the greats (including ten-goaler Adolfo Cambiaso) and teaching them how to play polo Pijaubert-style. Kat, we trust you managed to lure Cambiaso back to France for next season!

Summer Polo Holidays

This year’s polo holidays were a great success with players coming from all over the world including Switzerland, Poland, England, Holland, Mexico and the U.S. We had people of all levels, (some who had never even picked up a mallet before!) and saw great progress in everyone, well done to you all!

Throughout the past year Pijaubert Polo has had the pleasure of hosting Polo Days for the students of the Skema Business School in Sophia-Antipolis. These Polo Days included initiations and demonstrations of polo to spike the interests of future polo players. We are looking forward to working with other schools and universities on the Cote D’Azur during the 2013 season. If you would like to start a polo team at your school, please do contact us and we’ll see you through to the French nationals in Autumn 2013.
