A habitat is a place where plants and animals live. Another name for a habitat is an environment.
There are 6 habitats in Georgia. They are the Piedmont, Mountain, Marsh, Swamp, Coast, and Ocean.

What is a habitat?
What does the land look like?The Georgia Piedmont is a land of gently
rolling hills. There are also many lakes, streams, ponds, and rivers.
What kind of plants live there?Forests of oak,
hickory, pine, dogwood, and sweet gum can be found in the Piedmont.
There are also many different flowers like the dogwood and iris in the Piedmont.
What kind of animals live there?There are lots of animals in
the Piedmont.
Warblers, deer, rabbits, bats, skunks, squirrels, raccoons, possums, bobcats, and foxes live on the land.
Frogs, turtles, cottonmouth snakes, bass, trout, mussels, salamanders, and beavers live in or near the water.
The Georgia Piedmont is the largest habitat region in the state.
Georgia’s state bird, the brown thrasher, and Georgia’s state tree, the live oak, are found in the Piedmont.
Columbus, Georgia is located in the Piedmont habitat region.
