History of Photoionization
In May 2011, Dr. Jack Driscoll of HNU and now with PID Analyzers received the Outstanding Achievement Award from NESACS for the development of the first handheld photoionization detector
The Model 102+ represents the fifth generation of that device

Photoionization Process
R + h = R+ + e –
Where:
R= a molecule with an IP <10.5 for the 10.6 or 11.9 for the 11.7 lamp
h = a photon with an energy >= IP of the molecule
R+ is the ion formed by the process that is collected in the ion chamber-concentration is proportional to the current produced
What is unique with the 102+
Analog output- not available with other PID’s
5 amplifiers in each head
Snap on heads with additional sensors
Best 11.7 eV lamps
Bluetooth wireless included
Low cost ppb option
ppm and ppb in same instrument
Wide ppb range- 1-60,000 ppb

Snap on Heads
Interchange PID lamp heads (9.5, 10.6, 11.7 eV) without the need for recalibration
Library for 9.5, 10.6, 11.7
>300 response factors
The best option is to have a 10.6 eV lamp with an 11.7 head to use when looking for chlorinated HC

11.7 Lamps
Customer comment ” the 11.7 lamp that I got from your competitor lasted just 5 days”
We have been making 11.7 eV lamps since 1979 and they are still better than
any others out there
Our 11.7 lamps will last for 600-700 hours of operation

102+
In the 102+ amp board, there are 5 amplifiers:
–PID- high input impedence- namps
–CG, TCD, IR- Wheatstone bridge-measure diff. in resistance for CG, TCD or IR for HC, CO2 or N2O
–EC1- Biased or Unbiased
–EC2- O2 or Unbiased
–EC3- Biased or Unbiased

Snap-On Modules
It is possible to have multiple heads for the 102+ or other models
CG, TCD & IR use the same circuit but are setup differently (current)-can have separate heads for each
Unbiased EC sensors can be interchanged by customer, recalibrated then run
Readout unit will recognize type of PID or type of WB/sensor

Applications for PID
• Safety/IH Monitoring
• Area Monitoring VOCs+ LEL +Toxics
• Leak Detection for VOCs in chemical/petrochemical plants
• Transportation- Loading/Unloading Chemicals
• Monitoring Pilot Plants
• Laboratory Monitoring
• Short term; medium term monitoring-using the sleep mode
