Deputy‟s Report – Mr Baczynskyj

We are half way through the final term and the majority of students are completing their final assessments for the year. This process provides valuable information in relation to student learning and helps guide programming for teachers next year. For Year 7 and 9 students this information can be combined with the results of NAPLAN (your child‟s results were recently sent to you) which provides information relating to the development of literacy and numeracy skills which are the basis for all subject areas. It is a good time, when students get results, for them to reflect on their effort, attitude and overall performance as well as setting learning goals for next year. I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that the continuity provided by attending all lessons regularly is important for the ongoing education of students. Interruptions such as continued lateness to school make it hard for students to find a consistency with the flow of lessons. This is also the case in relation to leaving school early. Whereas we know that it is sometimes difficult to make specialist appointments outside of school hours, wherever possible appointments should be made for after school. This is equally true on Tuesday sport afternoons. Sport is not only a mandatory part of curriculum but active participation develops habits that may just keep our children healthy throughout their lives – Tuesday afternoons should not be seen as an opportunity for students to leave school early. As always, we thank you for your support with this matter. Important HSC Information Meeting Year 12 (2011) will be having an important information evening this Wednesday, November 10 at 7.00pm in the school hall. During the evening we will be able to discuss HSC processes and expectations with students and their parents. It is important that parents come along, as often students rely on their parents as the requirements and expectations of the HSC build. The HSC is accredited by the NSW Board of Studies so it is handy to know the way in which the Board of Studies considers procedures and processes, as well as the various support mechanisms they have to assist student learning. We will also hand out the Year 11 reports at this meeting. Adam Baczynskyj Deputy‟s Report – Mr Schomberg Japan Trip 2010 I just want to commend all of the students who attended the Japan trip during the September school holidays. I was fortunate enough to accompany the group with Mrs Irons and Ms Marquis – two absolutely amazing organisers. This is the third overseas trip I have been involved in with students from Picnic Point High School. Each time I return I comment on how that trip was the best but I am amazed at how the experience gets better on each trip I attend. The students were an absolute credit to themselves, their families and were amazing ambassadors for Australia and our school. It was an absolute pleasure to accompany the group and share in their experiences overseas. Please read the report later in the PICNEWS. Year 10 Beyond the School Certificate Exam

It is very important that all families are aware of the requirements for Yr10 students once the School Certificate Exams are completed.

Any Year 10 student who can demonstrate that they are leaving school to enter into full time employment or training and/or education at another site and will not be returning to take up study in Year 11 in 2011, will complete their sign out procedure immediately after the completion of their Computing Skills Test on Wednesday 10th November. Each of these students must complete an “exemption from school attendance” confirmation form. These forms can only be obtained from Mr Negroh.

All other Year 10 students continuing school in 2011, to study the Year 11 Preliminary course (whether at Picnic Point High School or another High School), must attend school every day from Friday 12th November until their sign out day on Friday 26th November. Students will attend during weeks 6 and 7 to complete mandatory requirements for the completion of Year 10 and complete mandatory work for the Board of Studies in preparation for Preliminary Courses in 2011. These students will then be expected to participate in the Work Experience program organised by the school during weeks 8 and 9, beginning 29th November 2010. (Information was provided by Mr Grant to all Year 10 students earlier this year). There will be no formal lessons at school for Year 10 during the Work Experience period (weeks 8 and 9).

All students, whether leaving school or continuing in 2011 are required to attend the Year 10 Graduation on Monday 13 December 2010 – commencing at 9.15am (students to be at school at 8.30am).

Information about subject selections for 2011 will be made available during week 7. The process is being finalized at the moment.

I encourage all parents to support the school and our efforts to make the learning experiences for all Year 10 students meaningful. Attendance during these weeks after the School Certificate Exams is very important in order for your child‟s learning to be maximised.

Year 8 Information Year 8 students will be given information about their elective subjects for next year during week 7. At this stage, most of the subjects are full and there will not be any changes occurring to any student‟s curriculum pattern. It is very important that all students continue to apply themselves to their studies right up until the end of the year. Even though yearly assessments have been completed, curriculum work still needs to be finalised in all subjects. School Uniform At this time of the year as children have grown and worn out different parts of their uniform, especially shoes, parents are often looking at purchasing new items like school shoes and sports shoes. The uniform has been determined by the parent groups representing the school community and one of the many reasons the school is so popular in the local community is because of our insistence that the uniform code is followed by everyone. I would just like to draw everyone‟s attention to the school web site where the uniform requirements are clearly outlined with colour photographs showing the acceptable uniform. If you are unsure of what shoes to purchase, I encourage you to view the images below, this

information is also found on the school‟s web site. It is important that everyone understands that canvas type shoes, and ballet type shoes are not acceptable forms of footwear due to safety factors in our school environment. S.Schomberg

Will you be supervising a Learner Driver during the next 6 months? To help you supervise your learner driver Bankstown City Council and the RTA are conducting a FREE workshop that offers practical advice on how to help learner drivers become safer drivers. Young people aged 17-25 are over-represented in road crashes, fatalities and serious injuries. Young drivers are three times more likely to be involved in casualty crashes. The RTA has introduced a Graduated Licensing Scheme (GLS) with a strong emphasis on competencies and safety to assist in improving the ability of young drivers to stay safe on the road. An important component of the GLS program is that all learner drivers must obtain a minimum of 120 hours on-road supervised driving experience prior to presenting for their P1 licence. The workshop will provide practical advice on:

• Understanding the new laws for L and P licence holders. • Completing the Learner Driver Log Book. • Understanding the benefits of supervised on-road driving experience. When: Wednesday 10 November 2010, 6.30pm -

Students of the month for September P&C News Welcome back to the final term of 2010. By the time you read this we will be half way through the term and planning for Christmas! The P & C held a meeting in October was once again well attended by 15 parents. It is pleasing to see the numbers at the meetings have remained fairly stable throughout the year but we always welcome newcomers so please come along to one of the meetings and find out what we do. At the October meeting Mr Baczynskyi and Mr Negroh were present and Mr Negroh gave us a broad overview of the NAPLAN results for the school for 2010. NAPLAN is testing done state wide for literacy and numeracy for students in Years 7 and 9. Mr Negroh was able to show the learning growth of our year 9 students by tracking back to their Year 7 results and comparing the two. All parents with students in Years 7 and 9 will have received their child‟s individual results already and Mr Negroh reiterated at this meeting that he is happy to discuss individual results with parents as desired. Not only do the results show the school where the students are at in terms of learning achievement they also assist the school in mapping out future teaching and learning experiences for the students and assist in targeting students in need of extra help. Overall a very worthwhile and informative presentation. The P & C received a letter from the Year 12 students asking us to fund the bus transportation for the students to their Year 12 formal to be held in November. This has traditionally been accepted practice that the P & C fund the buses for all students to travel to the city and then a return bus for those who wish to come home at the end of the formal and in 2010 we again agreed to this funding. The P & C currently has a healthy bank balance and will look forward to making some contributions towards school resources in the New Year. This year the two major expenditures have been for electronic whiteboards and for the refurbishment of the hall kitchen. I would remind all parents who have not already done so that now is the time to pay their school contributions and also the P and C levy. These can be paid to Office One at anytime. As was identified in the last PicNews the P & C will be holding a uniform sale this term as we have a large number of preloved uniform items, mainly larger sizes and senior

uniforms but we will send an sms to parents informing them of the date and time. Some of the P & C members will be involved in making up the resource packages for next years‟ Year 7 students also and we will distribute our P & C information flyers to them as well at orientation day on 7th December. The final meeting of the P&C for 2010 will be our Christmas meeting and this will be held on Monday 22nd November at 7pm in A Block. This meeting will wrap up the year‟s activities and will be followed by Christmas supper, again meetings are usually short and very informal and all are welcome to attend. Thank you for your continued support. Movember is here again Each year Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men‟s faces in Australia and around the world, with the sole aim of raising vital funds and

awareness for men‟s health, especially prostate cancer and depression in men. One in eight men in Australia will experience depression in their lifetime.

More than 3,300 men will die as a direct cause of prostate cancer. Men sporting Movember moustaches, known as Mo Bros, become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men‟s health.

Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo growing efforts. The rules are simple; register online at http://au.movember.com/register/ under the team of Picnic Point High School and start the month of Movember clean shaven, before growing a Mo.

Throughout the month there will be fundraising events at school and at the end of the month Trophies will be given to the best and most unusual Mo.

I urge all Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to support the PPHS team in this great cause. Brenton Monger - IA Faculty.

Industrial Arts Welcome back all to a very jam packed Term 4 which will see the culmination of all the hard work and effort that the students have displayed throughout the year. Yearly exams are taking place early in the term for all elective subjects in Industrial Arts subjects. I encourage students to thoroughly revise all course content and seek any assistance in areas that they may find challenging. To ensure every possible success in exams remember to take your time and read the questions very carefully. Year 12 Industrial Technology students are already well on the way into designing their major HSC project and can start construction as soon as plans have been finalised. I am looking forward to seeing some excellent jobs progressing.

Environment Day 29 October at PPHS The Environment Group has received over $20,000 to rehabilitate Morgan‟s Creek at the back of the school from the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority. To celebrate the beginning of this project the Science faculty will be hosting all kinds of environmental incursions for Year 8 and Year 10. The events will include the travelling program “Mini-beasts” visiting most Year 8 Science classes as well as a Drama performance by Environmental Educators “Leapfish” for Year 10. We will also be hosting an official opening ceremony from 11.20am -12.30pm. The opening ceremony will involve student talent, “Leapfish,” Bankstown Council Bushcare tents along with a free bbq afterwards. Another Environmental Project: Students in the Environment Group will be featured in a community calendar produced by Bankstown Council. The calendar aims to create awareness for local Picnic Point environmental issues so look out for it in December.

If you have any queries or are interested in supporting the Morgan‟s Creek Project with your time please call Kirsty Elwell – Science Teacher on the school‟s number. Kirsty Elwell - Science Faculty Science Faculty Year 11 students have now begun studying their HSC units of work. All students are being provided with a scope and sequence for each unit of work. This is to inform students and parents of the content and syllabus outcomes that will be taught each lesson. It will also identify pre-reading and homework activities that consolidate the learning in the classroom. At all times, senior students are able to identify what is required of them and what they can do to maximise their learning in Science. Year 10 students are revising all content learnt during Stage 5. They would benefit greatly from accessing the Board of Studies website at www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au and completing the on-line multiple choice questions. They should be revising all content learnt during Years 9 and 10 making summary notes and completing past School Certificate papers for practise. Miss Elwell has been chosen as the winner of the South West Sydney Directors Choice Award for Early Career Teachers. This is an outstanding achievement and only begins to identify the level of commitment and dedication of the teachers at Picnic Point High School. Miss Elwell was chosen as the winner of this award on the basis of her level of effort and enthusiasm for Science teaching and all of the extra activities she organises for the school and the environment and the Science Faculty. One example of her work is the Environment Day on Friday, 29th October, 2010 to launch the Rehabilitation of Morgan‟s Creek. Miss Elwell is an asset to our faculty and our school and is congratulated on this achievement. Mrs N. Sherry Head Teacher Science

The event was coordinated by Miss Shlom with the assistance of Mrs Robinson and Miss Elasi. Evening of Dance is yet another example of the talents and dedication of the staff and students of Picnic Point High School. Evening of Dance showcased the talents of over 80 dancers from both elective and extra curricular groups from Years 7-12. The dances varied in styles from ballet, contemporary to hip-hop.

Thank you to all the staff that helped out on the night and performed in the staff dance. It was great to see the dedication and enthusiasm shown by both the students and staff. Justine Shlom – CAPA Faculty Under 15‟s girls knockout Basketball On Monday the 20th of September, the under 15‟s girls basketball drove to Minto Basketball Stadium. After beating Holsworthy High School in round 2, the team was excited for the next rounds. Our first game was at 9am against Bass High School. We had a comfortable win 32-14. This win led us into the next round playing against Cecil Hills, and these girls were tough. In the end we came out winners but it was a closer match winning 29-24. That then put us into the final on the day (round 5) against our biggest rivals East Hills Girls. Each year in the Girls knockout competitions we have versed East Hills Girls in the central venue final. It was an excellent game where both teams played well. We were winning in the first quarter, then East Hills came back to lead at half time. We knew we have to put in an all out effort for the rest of the game and we came back in the lead by the end of the third quarter. In the last quarter it was neck and neck, right up until the last 2 minutes when East Hills stepped up their game and managed to hold a 5 point lead. Overall the girls played exceptionally well and deserve to be congratulated on their efforts and enthusiasm. Dianna Mitchell

We started the day with a special guest speaker, Darcy Gale. Darcy shared his stories about his days at Picnic Point High School and the leadership roles he was involved in; as a prefect, a member of the SRC and as a Peer Support Leader. Darcy attended Picnic Point High School‟s first ever Leadership Camp. The theme of the day was „Public Speaking‟ and Darcy demonstrated many good qualities. Our leadership teachers encouraged us all to go up onto the stage one at a time and speak in front of our whole group. For some students it was their first time speaking into the microphone. Even though some of us were terrified of the microphone, we all completed the task and realised it wasn‟t too difficult after all. We then all split into three groups to do different workstations. These were the „Drumming Circle‟ with Sam Cottell, „5 minutes to win it‟ with Ms Peterson and „Public Speaking in Action‟ with Ms Stavros. After lunch we had a „Treasure Hunt‟ where everybody had clues to different pathways around the school to find bits of treasure.

The day was a lot of fun and thank you to our leadership teachers, Ms Marquis, Mrs Peterson and Ms Stavros who organised the day! Lenore Gurney Year 10 Student Leader

LOTE Faculty Year 7, 9 and 10 Year 7, 9 and 10 have now completed their Yearly Examinations for Japanese. Results have been very encouraging and students should be congratulated on their efforts to achieve their best during this important examination time. Year 8 Year 8 recently completed their yearly assessment, an essay on the Hiroshima Bombings. For the rest of the term, students will complete work based around the culture of Japan, including a study of Japanese „manga‟ comic books and Japanese „anime‟ movies. Year 9: Nihongo Tanken Centre Visit On September 15, 2010, Year 9 and Ms Mitchell travelled to the Nihongo Tanken Centre, located within the school grounds of Kirrawee High School. The Nihongo Tanken Centre is an intensive Japanese centre, where students are able to consolidate their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through many activities. The Year 9 Japanese students contributed enthusiastically on the day and were impressed by their level of understanding considering the day was conducted solely in Japanese. Breanna‟s Report On Wednesday the 15th of September, the Year 9 Japanese elective class went to the Tanken Centre at Kirawee High School. Our teachers (Sensei‟s) at the Tanken centre were Cathy (Kyashii) and Yoshi. They taught us new things about Japanese language and culture. We played many games and got to experience Japanese food and traditions. The classroom was set up like a traditional Japanese home which made things very interesting. We would like to thank Ms Mitchell for taking us on the excursion and also Ms Marquis for organising the excursion. We all had an awesome time and we all learnt so much. I can‟t wait to go there again! Bree Ford - Year 9 Japanese Elective Class.

Year 12 We would like to congratulate our 11 Year 12 students who have completed their HSC exams in Continuers Japanese. Well done to Lauren, Elise, Rhiannon, Elise, Amanda, Andrea, Shou, Sophie, Kelly, Derek and Liam for all your hard work during the past two years. Japan Trip Over the spring school holidays, Mr Schomberg, Mrs Irons and Ms Marquis accompanied selected students from Years 9, 10 and 11 to Japan. The trip took the students to Kyoto, Hiroshima and Tokyo and the students had the opportunity to experience the life and culture of Japan. The students also participated in a host exchange, staying with a host family for two nights. All the students had a fantastic time and the thousands of photos taken will keep as lasting memories of their time overseas. The students should be congratulated on their behaviour and maturity throughout the trip; you are a credit to Picnic Point High School. Japan Trip Report Sunday morning bright and early (very early!) twenty-one kids and three teachers arrived bursting with excitement at Sydney Airport. After waiting almost a year and a half we were finally able to board the plane to Japan. After nearly ten long hours of anticipation, we arrived in Japan, bouncing in our seats but in desperate need of sleep. A long ride on a coach took us to our first accommodation in Kyoto, a ryokan. This traditional Japanese inn provided us with the chance to experience some of Japan‟s culture. After another early start, we ate a Japanese breakfast consisting of a lot of new and interesting foods that only some dared to try. With a busy day ahead of us, we ventured out into the city of Kyoto. Our first stop was Nijo Castle, an old, magnificent building, with squeaky floors designed to alert the occupants of intruders. With the sun blaring down on us, we walked up a tiring hill on our way to the Zen garden of the Ryoanji temple. All twenty-four members of our group attempted to find all fifteen stones that were in the garden. It is said that only when you reach sudden enlightenment through Zen Buddhism that you will be able to view the fifteenth stone. We then caught the bus to the exquisite temple, Kinkakuji. The beautiful golden pavilion amazed us all with its golden exterior and surrounding gardens. By this point in time all of our stomachs were rumbling. Some students were able to experience the delights of Okonomiyaki, a Japanese style pizza. Following this were the temples

Ginkakuji and Kiyomizudera. These both provided spectacular views, many photos were taken. During our visit to these temples the rain began to pour, soaking us as we scrambled onto the bus which took us back to the ryokan. Despite the rain, we all were happy to be spending time with each other, including Mrs Irons‟ children, Josh and Rhianna. A choice of dinner was offered where some of us discovered certain foods that will stay with us forever (cabbage, Kieran??) After another interesting breakfast, we set off once again but this time heading out to Japan‟s previous capital, Nara. On arriving, a long and exhausting walk took us to Todaiji temple, the home of Japan‟s Big Buddha. Along the way, we encountered hundreds of deer who walked the streets like pedestrians. One in particular took a special liking to James and his chocolate. Only some students achieved enlightenment by squishing themselves through a very small hole in one of the huge pillars near the Big Buddha, but at least no one got stuck! For lunch we enjoyed the much anticipated Mos Burger, a Japanese specialty in take-away food. When arriving back in Kyoto, bags packed once again, Ms Marquis and Mrs Irons sat us down for a serious talk about the upcoming ride on the bullet train, also called the Shinkansen. With our heavy bags dragging behind us, back-packs on and serious looks on our faces, we all boarded the train in the short sixty seconds that was allowed through the small single file door. After a stressful change of trains, we eventually reached Hiroshima. We awoke the next day in our modern and fancy hotel and were treated to an appetizing buffet breakfast. With our stomachs full we caught the tram bound for Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum. Our first stop was the A-bomb Dome. This was one of the only buildings that remained standing after the 1945 atomic bombing of Hiroshima during WWII. We also visited the very emotional Hiroshima Museum that allowed us to view the horrors of the war and the experiences of those who witnessed the tragic event. A short visit was also paid to the Sadako Statue where our group donated a chain of paper cranes to support the fight against nuclear warfare. Our afternoon was brightened by an exciting trip on the ferry to Miyajima Island, home of one of Japan‟s most sacred shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. We were given a short time to wander the streets of Miyajima Island, some of us hiring bikes. Before leaving we were inundated with a number of requests for photos with Japanese girls. Chee-zu! The evening came all too soon and we once again indulged in Hiroshima‟s famous Okonomiyaki. Day five included a visit to Seibi High School where we were treated like celebrities. After meeting with our host brother or sister we split up to leave the school with our host family. With a million stories to tell, we returned the next day to Seibi High School to experience a day in the life of a Japanese student. We had to adjust to the differences to Australian schools; homeroom before school, lunch in the classrooms and students cleaning after school. We also witnessed various club activities which take place after school. Once again we went home with our families for our last night with them. The next day, Saturday, happened to be Seibi High School‟s annual cultural festival. This day provided us with the

16

opportunity to spend our final hours with our host brother or sister. During the festival, our school group performed „I Am Australian‟ for the students and Ashleigh Judge sang a popular Japanese song that got the crowd involved, clapping their hands and singing along. Before departing we said our teary goodbyes and headed for the Shinkansen that would take us to Tokyo and our accommodation at a youth hostel. Another busy day was ahead of us starting with Hazel and Jack‟s navigational skills being put to the test in Tokyo‟s busiest train station, Shinjuku. After they successfully lead us to the government office building we took the prolonged elevator ride to the 51st floor. Once up there, we were able to peer out over the never-ending metropolis of Tokyo. This was the perfect place for souvenir shopping and the entire group spent lots of Japanese yen. Our next stop was the Meijijingu Shrine situated in the suburb of Harajuku. This is home to the largest wooden shrine in Japan. The girls were then treated to a visit at a Japanese department store, which contained eight floors of pure shopping desires. During our shopping, the boys tagged along pretending to be interested but really hated every minute of it. Little did they know their turn was yet to come. The next day in Asakusa and Akihabara was the last real day of touring Japan. These places involved touring a few shrines and intense last-minute souvenir shopping. We were also happy to find a KFC restaurant where we were delighted to find a taste of home. With nearly all our money spent, we were given an hour and forty minutes of free time in the streets of Akihabara – every boy‟s heaven. They went crazy purchasing many electronic items whilst our group of uninterested girls spent the entire time taking photos in photo booths. To finish the trip on a high note, the three teachers organised a scavenger hunt that evening which involved hunting down items and taking photos of various things. This challenge brought out our competitive sides as we were all determined to win. Our final day was now upon us. We packed our suitcases to maximise our time in Disneyland and left the youth hostel. When we arrived in Disneyland, the atmosphere blew us away! We were limited to a short four hours but every group made the most of their time, utilising their fast passes on rides

and shopping for last souvenirs. After many rides, many photos and many smiles, it was time to say goodbye not just to Disneyland but also to Japan. A sad plane ride home ended our trip but what we brought home (not just in our suitcases) will never fade. We have taken with us experiences we will never, ever forget, new knowledge (like Mr Schomberg‟s “ni-juu-yon-nin-desu”) and what we learnt as a whole about Japanese life and culture. What we learn in a classroom can never be the same as the real thing. Thank you to the three teachers, Mr Schomberg, Mrs Irons and Ms Marquis for putting in the tremendous effort you did to make this trip work. By Alison Humphrys and Tayla McGregor Australian Language Certificate In the first week of August, 25 students participated in the Australian Language Certificate. This exam comprises a listening and reading test and is an excellent indicator of how individual students are progressing in their language studies. We are very pleased with the results achieved by our students. Our students were awarded the following: 12 Participation awards, 29 Credit awards, 7 Distinction awards and 2 High Distinction awards. Special mention must be made of Kelly‟s efforts: she only made one mistake throughout the entire exam – an amazing effort. Congratulations to all students who participated in this certificate. Exchange Program Exchange programs are a fantastic way to experience another culture. Our bi-annual Japan Trip engages with an exchange and below is an opportunity to reciprocate this experience with a Sydney based company, Student Exchange Australia and New Zealand LTD. The company will welcome a group of

Ms Todd-McInerney‟s Class The students from our class and some from Mr Northall‟s class performed on the first day back of Term 4 in the Evening of Dance at Revesby Workers Club. Their dance this year was outstanding with the students performing extremely well and executing some very difficult moves, providing a very entertaining item. Thanks to Miss Elassi and her fantastic choreography. We have had a great start to the term with our annual visit to the zoo. We had a perfect day to travel by bus and ferry to Taronga, the city looked fantastic looking back to it from the bird show. We managed to see almost all of our favourite animals, the seal show and the baby elephants playing while their mothers had their showers. The students really enjoyed the day and the zoo is still our favourite excursion! Late last term we visited the ABC Studios at Ultimo for a tour of the building. This included the radio studios, makeup section, news room and various studios where shows like Q & A and The Gruen Transfer are taped. This was a great excursion that we all enjoyed, we were fortunate to actually talk to radio personalities and see a variety of ABC faces around the place.

As part of our art class last term we designed and completed mosaics of “Mystical Animals”. The students have done an excellent job of these pieces and we would like to thank Terri-Anne Blackall for donating her time and lots of bits and pieces to complete these works of art. We welcomed Terri-Anne back to see all the completed artwork and to thank her with a morning tea. We are now in full swing getting ready for our overnight camp to Woogelmia at Picton on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th November. This is a Department of Education Environmental Education Centre and the students will participate in educational activities as well as recreational. We hope the weather is good to us so we can really enjoy all the activities we have planned. This will be a great way for our Years 12s to complete their final week at PPHS. Five of our students will leave on 26th November after 6 years in our class. We wish them well in the future and the best of luck in their next step in life. Ms Todd-McInerney and Ms Goovan

Open Girl‟s Baseball Picnic point girls knockout team did exceptionally well in our first 3 games of baseball defeating Bass Hill, Pennant Hills and Endeavour Sports High School in the state semi final. Winning convincingly in all of the games, led us into to the State Final where we versed Hunter Sports High School. The game was tight, we were leading until the fourth innings when Hunter put their Australian baseball pitcher on to pitch which made it difficult to hit the ball and we unfortunately lost 9-4.

Competition was tough and the game was tight. Abbie Dawson Erin Barnes winds up Well done team A great effort by all the girls, it was very exciting to make it into the top 2 in the State. Abbie Dawson Shaun Smith
