Operation Angel Tree

Our Community Service Group coordinated with theSave the Family Foundation of Arizona to bring thisyear’s Angel Tree project to Encore. Residentsresponded by providing 100 gifts for local children—a50% increase over last year’s donations. Thank you toeveryone who contributed!

Ryan House News

The New Year’s Eve celebration at the Encore Clubincluded a Silent Auction in support of Ryan House.Items for the auction were donated by both residentsand local businesses. 100% of the proceeds from theauction support Ryan House’s world-class care andprograms that provide respite and palliative care forchildren and their families navigating life-limiting orend-of-life journeys. Thank you for your amazinggenerosity.

Saturday, January 6, at 1:00pm,at the Encore Clubhouse. Therewill be a 30-minute talk on bikemaintenance followed by a30-60 minutes Bicycle InterestGroup meeting.

Low Impact CircuitTraining

Low Impact Circuit Trainingincludes a combination of bothaerobic exercise and strengthtraining designed to lose bodyfat, improve muscle definitionand increase cardio fitnesswithout putting too much stresson the joints. 12:30, Chef Jennifer will behere. She will be preparing BeefTenderloin and Seasonal Veggies(Asparagus, Red Pepper,Zucchini, Broccolini) withCitrus.

Learn the simplest rub forbeef as well as how to determinethe best way to get your desiredtemperature of meat. Veggies aregreat for grilling. We will addsome citrus to the veggies toshow a different andcomplementary flavor profile.

New ClassesSharon Corrigan is offering

two new classes: Qigong onFriday mornings at 9:00am andYoga for Relaxation onThursday evenings at 6:30pm.

The first 40 minutes of Yogafor Relaxation class is mindfulmovement and breathing. Allmovements are performed on amat; however, chairs can beprovided for anybody preferringto sit. Feel free to bring yourown blanket and pillow ifdesired. Mindful movement andbreath awareness leads to thenext step, Yoga Nidra. YogaNidra is among the deepestpossible states of relaxationwhile still maintaining fullconsciousness. It is a state inwhich the body is completelyrelaxed.

Qi Gong, sometimesconsidered Chinese Yoga,incorporates specific sets ofmovements created to enhancethe flow of circulation andenergy in the body to open thejoints, to release tension and tocalm the mind.

Sharon Corrigan, a certifiedYoga instructor and Yogatherapist, will guide you throughsome basic movements. Comejoin us in the Movement Roomof the Encore Clubhouse!
