Castle concert Geldrop Sunday 14 December 2014 12.00 pm The Strabrecht Theater presents Lestari Scholtes (1984) and Gwylim Janssens (1985) have been a piano duo since 2003. Nowadays they are acknowledged as one of the most promising piano duos of their generation. Their 2009 Carnegie Hall debut was head- lined ‘Terrific duo in top form’. The duo is well known for its enchanting sound, magnificent technical skills, and very intense and energetic per- formances. This has lead to concerts at home and abroad. They have also performed several times with the Brabants Orkest and the Israel Symphony Orchestra. They have performed at such festivals as the Festival of Bath, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, TonLagen-Dresdner Festival der Zeitgenös- sischen Musik, Festival Classique and the International Piano Duo Festival Poland. In May 2010, the Scholtes-Janssens piano duo won the prestigious Vrien- denkrans/The Debut 2008-2010 Competition of the Amsterdam Concertge- bouw. In 2010 the duo also won the Concours Musical de France in Paris in the highest category, 3rd prize in the IVth International Piano Competition of the Republic of San Marino ‘Allegro Vivo’ and 2nd prize in the 14th Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Verona. In 2011 they were winners of the 12th International Web Concert Hall Competition, in addition to being awarded one of five Honorable Mentions. The duo has won all prizes at the International Chamber Music Competition Almere 2009, The Netherlands. They were winners of the jury prize, the au- dience prize and the KRO Radio Young Talent Award. In the summer of 2009 the duo has won 2nd prize at the International Concerto Competition of the Tel Hai International Piano Master Classes in Boker, Israel. In April 2009 they toured North Dakota, Virginia, Arkansas and New York, where they made their debut at Carnegie Hall. In May 2012 they returned to Carnegie Hall. ‘Superb teamwork – two as one – with excellent, turn-on-a-dime transitions between episodes’, the American press wrote about their performance of Stravinsky’s Petrouchka. Both started their studies in the Young Talent Class of the Brabant Conser- vatory with Ton Demmers. As a duo they are studying with the noted piano duo Gil Garburg and Sivan Silver at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover, Germany. Jointly they have attended numerous master classes with, amongst others, Nikolai Petrov, Alexander Tamir, Victor Derevianko, Alon Goldstein, Peter Tak·cs, Paul Lewis, Jean-Bernard Pommier and Mena- hem Pressler. In November 2010 they released their debut CD with works by Rachmaninov, Debussy and Ravel, on QuattroLive label. A legend in the world of ballet was Sergei Diaghilev, founder and impresario of the Ballet Russes. His ballet company left a deep impression with Stravinskyís Sacre du Printemps, but also created much dissension and scandal in fin de siècle society. There is a car park at the rear entrance to the castle park, in the street named Helze. The Strabrecht Theater presents
