Get the right tools Theres a wide array of equipment to choose from, but dont buy the latest and most expensive one just because everybody is crazy about them. Pick the camera, lenses, tripod, etc. that is only necessary for the photos that you usually take. 4. Brush up on the Manual No matter how advanced your camera is, you wont be able to benefit from it if you dont know how to use it. Take the time to learn the ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed to get the best out of each shot. 5. Break the rules When youre already familiar with your cameras functions, dont stick with the basic rules. Have fun with it. You get the most unique and spontaneous shots from experimenting. 6. Take closer shots Dont feel like you have to fit an entire stadium into one frame. Try moving closer to a specific subject that you really want to capture and youll get a better outcome. 7. Learn how the Lights Fall Whether youre taking a picture on broad daylight, sunset or artificial light, study how the subject looks like with different lighting position. 8. Composition The easiest way to understand good photograph composition is to learn the Rule of Thirds. Divide the frame into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal and vertical lines. Then put your subject on the lines and intersections to create a more interesting shot. You dont want a photobook with a Subject on the Center theme right? 9. White Balance Study how different white balance settings looks like to different situations. This will teach what looks good and what doesnt when using white balance settings. 10. Flash Just because your camera has flash doesnt mean you have to use it all the time. Experiment and learn when to use it and when not to. 11. Carry your camera All the time Good photos dont always come from occasions or out of town trips. Sometimes opportunity presents itself during those late afternoon walks.
