1. 1. Toby Keith: The Patriot The ability to become successful through hard work regardless of a social status or circumstances of birth. Toby Keith is a country artist who truly believes in the American Dream and strives for everyone to try to achieve it. Many of my pictures involve farming. These pictures are used to help describe that The Dream could be accomplished through farming along with the use of the country. Farmers can be very successful if their crop comes in nice and that shows how the dream could be accomplished. Not only does he want people and himself to live this amazing dream, he also supports the armed forces. Songs like Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue, American Soldier, American Ride, and Made in America are all patriotic. In all these songs Toby describes various attributes of being an American. While the other three songs support the armed forces, American Ride is used for comic relief in our everyday lives and with the government. In my slideshow I display various pictures of Toby Keith supporting the American soldiers. I also show how he feels towards the soldiers with the Let No Hero Be Forgotten picture. On my sixth slide, I tried to use the rule of thirds concept. The barn sits in the left third with a background of the country in the back. In the eighth picture, I showed a upper, far distance shot. Country music also supports a theme of people helping one another out. When there is a disaster on home grounds, people come from all around to help one another out or support one another. An example would be hurricane Katrina. When it destroyed most of the New Orleans area, Americans came from all sorts of places to help pick up the debris or find money to help rebuild. Another example would be the 9/11 tragedy. When this happened all the American people came together as one to support and grieve. In my slideshow I show people helping each other out, or being kind to one another. I displayed this with my own pictures and the pictures consist of someone holding the door open for another person and also helping someone pick something up that they dropped. I was trying to accomplish the moment-to- moment technique and the action-to-action technique with these two sets of pictures.
