Chuck Hickok’s Award Winning LectureEntertaining people with Interesting, Easy-to-do and Strong Mentalism

Chuck Hickok is a Corporate Entertainer, Mentalist, and the author of the widely acclaimed books, Mentalism, Incorporated and Mentalism, Incorporated: Volume Two – two of the best selling books on Mentalism in the past five years. Chuck is also the winner of the 2007 Mel-bourne Christopher Award for Mentalism.

At this lecture, Chuck will teach you several easy-to-learn, entertaining audience-tested routines from his current corporate act.

Chuck will share his secrets for presenting Mentalism to corporate clients.

Plus, Chuck will review and expand upon his practical and proven ideas for effectively perform-ing mentalism in an entertaining manner.

This is for MAGICIANS and MENTALISTS alike! If you are interested in adding one or two strong and easy-to-perform mentalism routines to your current act, this lecture will give you a chance to learn from one of today’s best lecturers.

You will leave this with lecture with:

Strong, audience-tested Mentalism routines you can add to your act tomorrow!Practical strategies on how to build a convincing and entertaining Mentalism act for corporate audiences. These strategies also apply to any corporate entertainment presentation.Proven suggestions from an award winning working professional that will help you become a better performer, anywhere. Consider what Larry Becker said about Chuck, “Chuck Hickok has achieved outstanding promi-nence in the field of corporate entertainment. Chuck’s book reveals the intimate details of his process for structuring a strong corporate act. Chuck shares the ‘real work’ about mentalism that is missing from other books.”

Michael Close of Magic Magazine said of Chuck’s book, “A competent performer with good marketing skills could take Chuck’s suggestions and make a living with the ideas in this book. What’s that worth to you? It’s worth a hell of lot more than the $60 price. I highly recommend it”.

Barrie Richardson, author of the mentalism classic, Theater of the Mind, recently said “Chuck’s ideas are for anyone who wants to learn how to present a mentalism act that will inspire, enter-tain, and generate customers. Chuck’s ideas on showmanship could stand alone as relevant and extremely helpful advice for anyone.”

Bob Sheets will be here May 26!Bob Sheets will lecture for our club on Monday, May 26 at 7 p.m. at the Executive West Hotel. We realize May 26 is Memorial Day and some will not be able to attend, but this was the only weekday available if we wanted to have Bob on his midwest swing. Watch for more info on this lecture in the next newsletter.

Out Of My HatDavid Garrard, President

If you missed the Daryl Lecture you missed a fun evening of very practical and easy to do magic! Daryl is always a joy to watch and a great magical teacher. I received some calls that people received their bulletins late by mail, I am sorry for that. I usually place them in a box in front of the office and while they pick up everyday, they often do not get “all” the mail out of the box. I will begin dropping these off at the main post office to ensure that you get the bulletin on time. I’m still having a few emails bounce back, and some mailed bulletins returned. Some are because your email box is full and some are permanent errors. So if you signed up for the email version and haven’t received a bulletin, it’s either because your email ad-dress on file is incorrect or you have too many emails in your box...so start reading those emails and send me your correct email address. See you at the Chuck Hickok Lecture.

Michael Raymer

There you are, up on the stage, working hard, doing your best . . . and your audience sits there in an unresponsive stupor. Believe me, I’ve been there, and the situation always reminds me of this line I borrowed from a band back in the 70’s: “Remember folks, all of the magic you are seeing performed today is being performed live . . . almost as if you yourself were a live audience!” No performer likes to find themselves in that kind of situation, and yet I wonder if, as magicians, we are too often guilty of being that kind of audience for our peers and colleagues. Daryl, who recently lectured for our club and who is one of the finest magicians in the world, came up to one of my friends several years ago after a club lecture and said, “Thank you.” My friend replied, “For what?” Daryl said, “For being re-sponsive. For laughing and clapping, just like a real audience.” The rest of the magic club just sat there throughout the lecture, deader than a doornail . . . and this for one of the most entertaining and innovative performers in magic! What kind of audience member are you when someone else is doing magic? Sure, we know how most of the magic is done. Yes, we’ve probably seen the tricks before. We may even have an idea or two for how to improve the handling. However, if we are watching a magical performance, we need to momen-tarily suspend what we know about magic and lead the audience to enjoy the moment. This means starting the applause, not staring blankly as if we are under anes-thesia! It means laughing at jokes and lines we may have heard and even used hundreds of times. It means acting surprised, even though we may know exactly what is going to happen. It means doing everything we can to encourage our fellow performer, just as we would want to be encouraged were we the ones up in the spotlight. It means finding something positive to say about the performance, or the performer. As LMC members, I hope you will join me in looking for ways to cheer on fellow magicians when we find ourselves in the audience, remembering that some day, the shoe may be on the other foot.

Where is the Love?
