Principal address to the 9 February Assembly Highlights for me were all the students that were nominated to be Student Councillors. They all demonstrated confidence to apply and asked at least two of their friends to support their nomination. They had to be organised to complete their application form including getting their parents to support and sign their nomination. They all had to be organised and confident to prepare a speech and then deliver it to about 100 of their peers. Congratulations to the following 4 students elected as General Councillors: Kaeden, Konrad, Neel and Akhil. Congratulations to the following 6 students elected as faction leaders: Wattle: Sebastian and Fatema Hovea: Julian and Jesse Banksia: Logan and Emily Congratulations also to Nikolas, Hayley, Rishi and Dakota for being resilient for being nominated and having a go, and accepting the election result and the votes of their peers.

Nature Playground Huge addition Thanks to our wonderful P&C for facilitating our improved playground for our Year 1-6 students. We now have the addition of 6 very large logs on our oval beside our Netball court. Thanks to Mrs Burrows for her quick Facebook reply as we were able to secure a fantastic addition to our nature playground. Further playground equipment has been planned for installation later this term. A reminder to all students who are playing in our extensive play areas; enjoy, have fun, be considerate and take turns.

Chaplain’s Chat

A warm Welcome to 2017 at WSPS. A special welcome to families that are new to our school. We hope you all find our school a friendly, happy environment.

This year I will be working Monday all day and Wednesday and Thursday I am here until 12.15pm . I am available at these times to help your family in any way I can. Children can come and talk with me and share happy news, and also to share their concerns. Parents and carers are also welcome to either drop in for a chat at the beginning of the day or make a time to see me. One of my responsibilities is to help link children and their families with agencies in the community that can help with the many issues that occur in family life.

We are starting up Homework Club again on Monday after school by invitation only and teachers have nominated students they think will benefit from the Club. If you want your child to join us, please have a chat with the classroom teacher.
