Kaithal is only three and half hours away from the

Kaithal: The Land of Historical Panaroma
Kaithal was part of the Karnal district at the time
of Haryana state formation. Later Kaithal became
the part of the Kurukshetra district. 1 November
1989, when it became the headquarters of the
Kaithal District of Haryana. Kaithal is only three
and half hours away from the national capital.Kaithal has many colleges and schools which are
imparting world class education to the students
of the Kaithal district area. The NIILM Education
Trust has formed the NIILM University in Kaithal.
The foundation stone of the NIILM University
was laid down by Hon’ble Shri. Randip
Surjewala, Minister, Haryana Government and
MLA from Kaithal. This forms a major landmark
in the district of Kaithal in the education sector.
The international feel, great infrastructure and
the quality of education provided all contribute
to its academic excellence. It is believed that in
the coming years formation of this University will
contribute in a big way to growth and
development of not only Kaithal, but the entire
state. At present Kaithal is a flourishing town
known for its cotton and rice plantations. All
modern facilities and amenities are available. It
has malls and multiplexes and forms a hub for
youth both for education and recreation.
An important town during Akbar's rule, it is
located near the Bidkiar Lake. The town is said to
have been founded by Yudhishthira in
celebration of the Pandavas' victory in the
Mahabharata. It was first known as Kapisthala, or
Abode of Monkeys, and is the birth place of the
monkey god Hanuman. A temple in memory of
Hanuman's mother, Anjana, is built here.

The Main Attractions
Brick Temples
A fierce battle between Razia Sultan (Iltutmish's
successor) and the rebel forces of Delhi, was
fought here. She is said to be buried here,
although her tomb is also to be found in Delhi.
There is also a mosque near her tomb. The
Emperor Akbar renovated this town and built a
fort, and after the third battle of Panipat the region
came under the rule of Bhai Desu Singh, a Sikh
leader, whose palace has now been converted
into a police station and overlooks the lake.
The Phelgu tank is a watery and holy site in honour
of Rishi Phelgu who meditated here, and the
Pundri tank dates back to the Mahabharata period.
A few temples are also scattered around, like the
Saraswati temple, Kapil Muni temples and Baba
Narayan Das temple. The tombs of Shah Wilayat,
Sheik Shihabuddin, Shah Kamal and Bidkiyar Lake
itself are worth a look.
Going by legend, a king called Shalivahana ruled
this area in the 7th century AD. He was cursed that
he would die during the night, but by a stroke of
luck he touched the earth where the temple now
stands. The curse was revoked, and the king's
happiness knew no boundaries. So he gave orders
for five temples to be built, out of which only two
stand now. One of them must have originally stood on a
terrace but is now half buried under a mound of
earth. Both temples follow the Ajanta-Ellora
pattern of a rock cut facade. Constructed from
carved bricks, the highest point culmintaes in a
shikara (pinnacle) and is joined in a beehive
manner.

Undergraduates at NIILM University can
register for a professional degree course
resulting in the award of a Bachelor's degree
(BA, BBA, BTech,) from NIILM University.
The undergraduate courses are pursued full
time and last for three or four years
depending on the award. Courses where
industry internships play a role are of four
years duration.
If you are seeking to add a professional
advantage to your qualification you could
register for a range of postgraduate degrees
as well as professional diplomas at NIILM

Reflective Journal
In order to encourage greater student initiative in
the self-learning process every NIILM University
Scholar maintains an Individual Action Plan (IAP)
from the very beginning of the academic session.
The IAP consists of the students' self-evaluation
of individual strengths and weaknesses and
identification of skills that they wish to develop in
the context of their work, environment,
interests and aims. In this manner, students are
taught to profile and map their own progress
reports and finally their individual career paths.
The Reflective Journal is maintained by all
students in relation to their assignments. It
provides an insight into analytical thought
process for task orientation in assignment
activity. It addresses the reasons for the
preferred course of action adopted and its
practical applicability in a real environment.

Companies want their potential employees to have a p leas ing personal i ty, good communication skills, patience, tolerance, appreciation, tact, efficiency, literacy, awareness. These essentials are what we
term as “Life Skills” taught as a compulsory
subject during every semester to all our students in all our colleges through courses on - `SELS’ – Strategic Entrepreneurial Leadership Skills’ and `PCC-Personal and Corporate Communications’ among others.

Life Skills
In India there are realistically atleast, 500 applicants for every good job available. The process, of short-listing the candidates to call for interview is quite a difficult one. To shortlist best 25 out of the 500 is highly dependent on the HR Managers or potential employers recall of your University name and quality. There are about 3500 engineering schools and 1400 management schools in the country. NIILM University's branding through its A+ quality, and its positioning as one of the top most leading University in the country automatically ensures that our students will be short-listed and called for the interview. The NIILM University nametag opens many many doors for potentially great jobs.
NIILM University has a quarterly system wherein the student does three quarters of academics and one quarter of Field Training and Internships. NIILM University is thus able to place its students with industries throughout the year for on-the-job learning. This round the year internships and placements is well appreciated by the industry who take our students through out the year.

Career Planning & Placement Cell (CPPC): Looking Ahead
Today there is a great need to guide and create awareness among students about the changing world scenario, its impact on the Indian economy and on job opportunities. This need goes far beyond the NU centres and NU has thus set up an independent Career Guidance Cell (CGC). The CGC keeps itself updated with the latest international and national industry trends and the changing market scenario. CGC gives guidance to students irrespective of whether they wish to join NU or not.

CGAC of NIILM University is an expert body consisting of eminent professionals from various career fields. These consist of international and national level names in various fields who are also prospective employers for the student body. They meet the student body from time to time and advice them regarding career decisions.
There are no shortcuts to success. Therefore, we believe in beginning early to plan, guide and provide direction to the career path of all our students. Our robust and proactive-CPPC works in coordination with the students inculcating in them a positive approach to work and providing
them the solid backup of resources, so that they may acquire the necessary skills and vision to excel in their dream job.
The Career Planning & Placement Cell continuously invites organizations to visit its campus by way of career fairs and pre-placement talks. This provides students an opportunity to learn more about recruiting organizations and meet some of their key employees. This process makes a powerful and long lasting impact by exposing students to highly qualified professionals.
CPPC assists students in developing an awareness of cutting-edge careers by organising guest lectures, panel discussions, conferences and workshops from time to time. In addition, NIILM University has strong links with prominent industrial groups which generate valuable synergy between students and corporate organizations. The University organizes a numerous industrial visits and field trips to students of various disciplines.
At NIILM University, all NIILM Tutors also act as Guidance Tutors (GTs). The concept of a GT, which is not new, is that of a friend, philosopher and guide. All students are assigned Guidance Tutors who monitor their academic progression and personal development. These sessions address issues of both personal and social importance like peer pressure, time management, performance, anxiety, abuse, drugs, alcohol and sexuality. Campus accommodation is an experience in NIILM University. Life at campus is packed with excitement and energy.
The hostel at NIILM University promotes a quality life-style and sustains it every step of the way. Our ultra-modern facilities are among the best of fered anywhere. The Hoste l accommodation is spacious, fully furnished and has temperature controlled rooms with plenty of storage space, round-the-clock janitorial services, power backup and 24-hour clean drinking water.
All blocks in the hostel are Wi-Fi. The library, gymnasium, stationary store & tuck shop are highly popular. Banking, shopping and medical facilities are all close by.
In addition for all immediate academic and personal problems the students may enlist round-the-clock help from the staff on campus. Para-medical personnel are available on premises and are supported by tie-ups with various reputed hospitals.
An emergency mobile van is available at all times for security of the resident students.

The Cafeteria: A Fine-dine Affair
Recreational rooms equipped with television, newspapers and comfortable seating are an instant hit with all residents. In fact, the spaciousness and homely ambience encourages them to spend most of their spare time at the hostel. Students particularly love the fully equipped in-house gymnasium. Also, the vast tracts of natural landscape on the premises are ideal for a stroll, a walk or a jog depending on your mood.
The cafeteria in campus premise provides wholesome and nutritious meal-plans that will undoubtedly surpass your expectations. A multi-cuisine menu is offered to residents, which includes Indian, middle-eastern, continental, Italian and Chinese cuisine on rotation. Meals are available on a fixed monthly charge. The Snack Bar offers snacks and beverages as an additional premium service on payment basis.

Although the academic session commences only twice annually, you can sample our Taster Courses at any time during the year! This gives you not only an opportunity to learn about a different way to study but also helps you make a well-informed decision about your future. This also offers potential students a superb opportunity to spend two days on campus in order to learn about a variety of courses and enjoy an evening of entertainment. You are welcome to be our guest and stay overnight in our excellent hostel accommodation thus allowing yourself a glimpse of Life at NIILM University.
