Oscar Wilde said that if you know what you want to be, then you inevitably become it - that is your punishment, but if you never know, then you can be anything. There is a truth to that. We are not nouns, we are verbs. I am not a thing - an actor, a writer - I am a person who does things - I write, I act - and I never know what I am going to do next. I think you can be imprisoned if you think of yourself as a noun.”
Stephen Fry

A mindset…an attitude and approach to thinking that actively
seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt to change. It's a mindset that embraces critical
questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement.

If your annual audit plan ends exactly as you expected…
If your audit ends exactly as you expected…
If your day ends exactly as you expected…

Can I skip this test?
Can I change the scope?
Can I drop this audit?
Can I ignore the annual plan?
Can I go off and do something else?

LIFELONG LEARNING
In times of drastic change, it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists.

Resilience
© Jacka 2019
“[It] isn’t for the faint of heart. It requires grit, discipline, stamina, and composure to deal with all the ups-and-down, uncertainties, and head-spinning changes that come with the territory.”
© Jacka 2019
It is in the inevitable bad times when resiliency really shows it worth
Inner strength and calm are necessities even when things are not going well
© Jacka 2019
Resiliency is rooted in our understanding of,

Organizations are navigating their way to an unclear future
There are no “right” answers for them
There are only answers everyone “hopes” are right
The role of risk management
We cannot expect perfect answers from them
And we cannot expect to deliver perfection
We must judge them and ourselves based on this understanding

We are an incredible resource that has a unique blend of skills, access, and opportunities. But we remain an untapped resource. Many do not know about us, about our skills, or what we can do. And we have to take part of the blame. We sit about complacently accepting our lot in life, partly in the belief that, because of the charter or other documentation, they have to keep us around.
© Jacka 2019
Nothing is further from the truth. And, if we do not grab the opportunities and force ourselves into the consciousness of those we work with, for, and around, we will sink in the swamp of our own complacency and the world’s disinterest.
© Jacka 2019
Toward that end, we will embrace and exhibit the entrepreneurial spirit; we will desire to be more, drive more, and succeed.
