    ITALIAN

    CHRISTIAN

    MISSION F ALl_ 1

    7

    Dear Triend,

    As

    you may know

    by

now we came to the States

    for

    a nine-month

    furlough,

    February 25th.

    We went

    on

    the

    road in March

    to report to supporting churches.

Our plans were to travel till November 14 and return to the field

    sometime

    the

    week

    of November

    21.

    These

    were

    our

    plans,

    but God's

    plan

    for us was

    different.

After travelling in Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas,

    Kansas,

    Arkansas

    and Missouri,

    we were

    to

    head North

    for

    the

    next

    three

    months.

    On

our way through Joplin we had Charles checked over by a Card

ologist. He ordered a complete examination, including heart catheriz

    which

    he

did August 12 and told us we had serious problems.

    So on

    August

    17,

    Charles had open-heart surgery

    (five

    by-passes)

    We had a few touch

    and

go days, but prayer surrounded us, and we a

    happy to report

    that

    on August

    26, he

    was released from

    the

    hospital

    begin

    a three-month's Rehabilitation

    Program,

We have been graciously received by many,

    and

    we look forward to

    seeing

    so

    many

    more before

    leaving again

    for Italy.

    We

    are

    trying

    to

be patient as God does His

    perfect work

    in

    our

    lives.

    PLANS—Our

    return

    to the field will

    be

    delayed

    at

    least

    three

    months

    to

    give

    us

    time to

    complete both unfinished

    reporting and

    ess

tial rehabilitation. If all goes well, we should return to Italy in

    February, 1988,

    making

    our furlough one

    year

    instead of nine nionths.

    Pray

    for

    us as our

    ti kets

    to

    America and

    the

    purchase of a car

    travel

    in

    depleted our savings,

    and

    although Charles has Medicare,

there are still lots of hospital costs and really expensive medicine

to buy, plus the cost of the

    Rehabilitation

    Program.

    We

    must continue

    to send

    at

    least $700

    the

    first of every month

Italy since the expenses for the Mission continue there.

    We will

    appreciate anything

    the Lord leads

    you

    to do to

    help

us in all this. We know you pray and listen for

    God's

    leading,

    as

    you've shown us so many

    times

    in

    the

    past.

    We

    thank

    God

    for His perfect timing

    in

    showing

    us

    these

    problems here

    in

    the U.S.

    where we had

    the best

    doctors, and our

    family close

    to help us.

    We

    repeat,

    we

    do thank

    you

    for the

    prayers

    that

continue to surround us. We feel God answering prayer is what

    saved

    Charles'

    life.

    We

    will be

    with

our daughter, Linda, and her fine husband,

    Ron,

    in

    their

    home, where they

    take

    such loving care of

    us.

    Our mailing address remains

    the same,

    however.

    Until we see

    you

or hear from you again. Thank you for

your prayers, love, and support as together we serve Him.
