The need for infrastructure development and connectivity within the archipelago and the

promised continuity of the succeeding administration means that policies, investmentroadmaps and the country’s dynamic economic

climate shall continue to move forward.

ICEP shall bring the stakeholders together underone roof to network, to do trade and to learn.

ASEAN COOPERATION SPURSREGIONAL INFRA GROWTH

* Source : www.adb.org * Source : www.asiamattersforamerica.org

In 2011, ASEAN member states and ADB created the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund - the largest ASEAN-led financial initiative in its history - to address the region’s critical infrastructure development needs.

According to the ADB website, over the next decade ASEAN nations will require approximately $60 billion a year to fully address the region's infrastructure needs.

The ASEAN Infrastructure Fund's total lending commitment through 2020 is expected to be approximately $4 billion.

With projected 70% co-financing by ADB, the Fund plans to leverage more than $13 billion in infrastructure financing by 2020. It is the largest ASEAN-led initiative in the association's history.

This Fund will help ensure that people living in ASEAN countries - over half a billion - will have greater access to energy, clean water, sanitation, and better transportation.

The Fund will finance approximately six infrastructure projects each year. Projects will be selected based on sound economic and financial rates of return, and the potential impact for poverty reduction.

Regional cooperation and integration (RCI) is a process by which national economies become more interconnected regionally.

RCI plays a critical role in accelerating economic growth, reducing poverty and economic disparity, raising productivity and employment, and strengthening institutions.

It is an important platform on which countries work together toward unlocking their vast economic potential, achieving sustained, rapid growth, and reducing poverty.
