Dear Constituents; Much has been achieved in less than a year as your Member of Parliament. Record Federal Government investments in Economic Stimulus and Infrastructure exceed $65 million dollars for our community. Important work is yet to be done including aggressively pursuing opportunities for long-term job creation and advocating for the interests of Brant. As your Member of Parliament, you have my steadfast commitment to making sure we have the resources needed to help us return to a cycle of prosperity and growth.

Post-Secondary Education Caucus tours Brantford Campuses of Laurier, Nipissing
and Mohawk Phil hosted a delegation of MP colleagues from the Conservative Post
Secondary Education Caucus (PSEC) July 14th, 2009. The group was
in town for the first leg of a tour of regional Colleges and Universities.
Delegates toured Brantford facilities of Laurier, Nipissing and Mohawk
including the Carnegie building, Odeon building and the new Laurier
Research and Academic Centre that currently under construction.
Following the tour delegates attended a roundtable with
representatives from Laurier, Nipissing and Mohawk College.
“It was an honour to have so many fellow MP’s in attendance for
today’s tour and roundtable,” said Phil. “If you want to know
what kind of a positive impact post secondary education can have
on a local economy and a community Brantford is the place to
start.”
It is expected that the new Federally-Funded Laurier Academic Centre
will enable the Laurier Brantford campus to grow to 4,000 students by
2012 from the present 2,300 students. It will provide state-of-the-art
research and teaching space, as well as library facilities and
administrative areas for several campus programs.
“The Government of Canada’s investment in Laurier Brantford is
providing a significant economic stimulus to this community, it’s
creating jobs, and helping to grow Laurier will continue to
positively impact our local economy for years to come” said Phil.
