exchanges between MIT/Boston and UCL in the field of the research project “Drone-based

Construction of Timber Space Structures” (In collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of

Technology/USA/professor Caitlin Mueller).

2016 “Constructive Beech Wood Project», granted by private company MOBIC, specialized in the

construction of timber houses and structures. Total budget 150.000 euros (2 years). Subject:

development of a robotized beech wood based multi-storey concept.

FSR 2 years second grant for researcher Elke Mergny (subject: influence of cracks on the structural

characteristics of timber construction elements).

FNRS/CDR Grant. Subject : « Drone based construction «. Budget 45.000 euros over 2 years.

“Retour TVA UCL”. Development of the UCL DroneZone, a 600 m3 indoor flght area for drones used

for research puporses. Budget 19.000 euros.

2003 to 2007 BELGIUM – FREELANCE ENGINEER WORKING ON GOVERNMENT FUNDED PROJECTS

Projects include the study, design and worksite follow-up of rehabilitation projects for heritage-listed trees: an 11 meter cable-stayed mast structure for a 400-year old linden tree at Doyon (2004) and a timber support structure for one of the oldest Lebanese cedar trees in Belgium, located in the Parc de Mariemont (2007). [18]

1995 to 1999 BELGIUM – CIVIL ENGINEERING LABORATORY AT THE UCL

Organisation and follow-up of various on-site measurement projects: stability study part of the Tournai cathedral, measurements of cracks in the storage area of the former Chooz nuclear power plant (France), measurements of deformations of a slab under a progressive real load at the Schweppes plant at Genval, stability measurements of the lixiviates sledging sump (Halembaye), organisation of the deformation measurement campaign of the primary wall of the Doel 3 nuclear power plant during the decennial test. These studies are accompanied by many laboratory test reports on various materials or structures used in civil engineering, including hydrocarbonated materials.
