ISL CPP-5Gs Worst precision of any automatic method Requires significant amount of time for sample

preparation; water bath or oven must be used to bring sample to at least 14°C above the expected cloud point.

ISL MPP-5Gs Interlaboratory Round Robin results showed there

is a statistically significant bias of 1.23°C relative to ASTM D2500.

Slow test speed – Phase Technology 70Xi can perform at least five test runs in the time that it takes MPP-5Gs to perform one single test!

CLOUD POINT ASTM Method Comparison

Tanaka MPC-102 Interlaboratory Round Robin results showed there is a

statistically significant bias of 1.68°C relative to ASTM D2500.

Tanaka is the slowest automatic method – takes almost as long as the manual method.

The MPC-102 requires 4 mL of sample (complare to Phase Technology use of 0.15 mL). Larger sample volume introduces non-uniform temperature.

Even with external liquid cooler, MPC-102 is not able to reach the low temperature level that Phase Technology does.

Tanaka is only capable of going down to -30°C with internal cooler
