Page 8: pH2.5 | Vol.1 | Spring 2014

Multi-Perfecting Skin Tint glides on smoothly, blends easily and boosts moisture content for soft, even-toned, vibrant-looking skin. The light reflecting properties of White Diamond powder and mineral pigments blur the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst the creamy concealer masks blemishes, shadows and imperfections; leaving the whole complexion with a dewy, flawless finish.

The Director added, “We have included Melanin within this formulation which also functions as a natural antioxidant and UV protector. When applied topically, Melanin delivers beneficial antioxidant and free radical scavenger properties to the skin including protection from sunburn cell formation.”

Hydration levels are boosted by Sunflower Oil, a silky and lightweight emollient renowned for its extremely high Vitamin E content; which is crucial for the prevention of damage to sensitive skin cells from pollution and ultraviolet light. Invigorating Rosemary Oil works to absorb excess oil and accelerating the elimination of toxins - to leave the skin feeling fresh, firm and supple.

Multi-Perfecting Skin Tint is ideal for all skin types and is the ultimate multi-tasker for beautiful, younger-looking skin.

NOW available in two shades: Light-Medium and Medium-Dark.

Key Ingredients:

Hexapeptide, Glycolic Acid, Hydranov P, Niacinamide, Ferulic Acid, Silk Amino Acids, Waltheria Indicia, Hibiscus Flower Extract, White Mulberry Extract, Cucumber Seed Extract.

LIQUID LASER™ IS A DYNAMIC MIX OF ANTIOXIDANT AND CELL COMMUNICATING INGREDIENTS WHICH CUT THROUGH TIME TO HELP RESURFACE AND REVIVE THE SKIN’S APPEARANCE.

As many are turning to invasive beauty treatments, Alpha-H’s innovative alternative has the ability to resurface the skin, targeting imperfections and damage caused by ageing, without the aggression or downtime.

Innovative Hexapeptide technology reinforces the skin’s natu-ral ability to repair and recode DNA damage that occurs along the years; effectively rejuvenating and regenerating skin cells.

High-tech concentrate Hydranov P, is faster and three times more efficient than Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and restructure the skin.

Glycolic Acid is utilised as a water soluble enzyme exfoliant that encourages the stimulation of collagen production and blood flow within the lower layers of the dermis. Niacinamide has the ability to improve skin elasticity, dramatically enhance its barrier function and assist in erasing discoloration. When topically applied Niacinamide has been shown to increase hydration while stimulating microcirculation in the dermis.

LIQUID LASER

(n.) the non-invasive, no downtime application of advanced anti-ageing technology in a unique low pH which compels stimulation in the lower skin belt for a rapid transformation.

IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY

Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen to stop harmful UVA

and UVB rays from penetrating and causing lasting

damage. Everyday use of sunscreen of at least SPF30+

is vital to combat damaged skin as well as to prevent

further havoc from being done.

AVOID THAT PLASTIC BOTTLE

Plastic bottles damage more than the planet. According to

New York City dermatologist Karyn Grossman, the constant

pursing when drinking from a bottle creates lines and aggravates

existing ones around the mouth. She suggests sipping filtered

water from a glass or carrying a reusable bottle with a spout.

THE RULES WHEN LAYERING SKIN PRODUCTS

Start with your serums. Next add your antioxidant. Moisturise.

Add an oil. Protect and then prime. Ensure that you let each

layer absorb before applying the next layer.

4

IT MIGHT LOOK CLEAN

You should be cleansing morning and evening as well as before

and after a workout. As a rule of thumb, you should be

double cleansing in the evening as well as before and after

your workout to remove excess sebum, oil, sweat and grim

that has accumulated over the day.

3

TAKE SOME TIME FOR RNR

Stress can increase oil production and therefore potentially

increase the likelihood of clogged pores. Take some time

to relax, take a bath, practise yoga or get outside and go for a

walk. Your skin will love you for it.

HAVE YOU HAD YOUR

VITAMINS?With winter now a distant thought it’s time to shake up your skincare regime and boost that dull complexion with an ample dose of vitamins!

Page 13: pH2.5 | Vol.1 | Spring 2014

VOL.1 | ALPHA-H pH 2.5 | 12

Antioxidants are often touted as miracle ingredients for a healthy glow and we believe that vitamins taken internally and applied topically are really the key to achieving a dewy youthful complexion.

Dermatologists and skincare professionals have long preached of the importance of Vitamins A, C and E and the role they play in achieving flawless skin. These vitamins are widely used in a range of skincare products at different concentrations, in different forms and under confusing names.

Vitamin A is found in nutritious foods such as sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach and apricots, and plays an essential role in night vision, bone growth, reproduction and skin health. Skin suffering from Vitamin A deficiency falls prey to photo damage, destruction of collagen and elastin, resulting in dry, ageing skin.

Vitamin C is essential to our very survival; however it is a vitamin we are unable to produce ourselves. Therefore we must re-introduce the vitamin to our bodies regularly through fresh fruit and vegetables, certain meats or in supplement form. Vitamin C is needed for the production of collagen, the essential building block of skin. Found in carrots, strawberries and papaya.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects cell membranes and other fat-soluble parts of the body, such as the heart and skin from free radical damage. Vitamin E helps promote clear and flexible blood vessels that allow the passage of oxygen-rich blood to the heart and throughout the body – especially to the skin. Found in Almonds and Avocado.

This spring, you need to get your hands on our Skin Loving Vitamins Kit to boost collagen production, support your skin’s natural barrier function and to replenish nutrients lost throughout the long winter months.

Eat your way to healthy skin

“The body delivers only a certain percentage

of vitamins to your skin, no matter how

much you ingest, plus, there’s no way to

send them straight to your crow’s feet or

brown spots.”

- Mary Lupo, MD, Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine.

2. PURPLE IS THE NEW BLACK This look requires some serious commitment, otherwise you will end up with an awkward in between colour.

2. KEEP LOCKS LONG Grow it out. Whether it be textured bech waves or poker straight. This style is a classic winner adding a feminine edge to any look.

We have watched the resurgence of trainers making a big comeback. Off-duty models are rocking their Nikes before and after shows and fashion bloggers are getting serious about the sophisticated sneaker. Dress them up or down. The trend is here to stay.

Who’s workin’ what on the catwalk this season? A combination of black and white is proving it never goes out of fashion, while pretty pastels and hints of pink are also featured heavily on the runways. We will also be seeing a lot of white on white for a clean, edgy and sophisticated look this season.

IN A NUTSHELL – WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO SINCE SEASON 7 OF ANTM WRAPPED?

Since the end of the show I have moved to Sydney, lived in Dubai and travelled to some beautiful places. Now, I am currently living in Sydney with my partner. ARE YOU ABLE TO SHARE SOME HINTS AND TIPS ON WHAT BEAUTY AND HAIR TRENDS YOU SEE EMERGING THIS SPRING?

I think that really natural soft wavy hair is in with some nice natural highlights. Anything natural I think is in, which is good, I love it!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ALPHA-H PRODUCTS AND WHY?

My favourite products would have to be the Protection Plus Daily SPF 50+, the Liquid Gold and the Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask. They just make my skin feel so fresh and clean.

WHAT WILL YOU BE GETTING UP TO THIS SPRING IN SYDNEY?

I love the outdoors so this spring I’ll be either at the beach, markets or shopping. Every girl loves shopping!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SHARE ANY DIET OR FITNESS TIPS ABOUT GETTING INTO SHAPE FOR THE UPCOMING BIKINI SEASON?

The only tip I could really suggest would be eat healthy and have a treat now and then but always in modera-tion. You don’t have to do cross fit every day to have an amazing body, just do at least 30 minutes of cardio daily and then do some strengthening exercises like sit ups, planks, push ups and dips. You don’t need a gym membership, just motivation. WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO LOOK DURING THE DAY?

My go to look for day time is definitely jeans, a baggy shirt, chunky necklace, watch and an oversized bag. It’s my favourite look and it’s super comfy too!

WE TAKE SOME TIME TO CHAT WITH AUSTRALIA’S NEXT TOP MODEL CYCLE 7 RUNNER UP LIZ BRAITHWAITE TO FIND OUT WHAT SHE’S BEEN UP TO SINCE THE SHOW WRAPPED, WHAT HER FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO IN SPRING ARE AND WHAT HER FAVOURITE ALPHA-H PRODUCTS ARE.

GUEST CONTRIBUTOR, JENNA MCMANUS FROM LORNA JANE SHARES HER HEALTH AND FITNESS TIPS AND CURRENT TRENDS FOR SPRING

If there ever was a time to supercharge our bodies and minds, spring is it. The sun is shining, things are heating up and the layers are coming off. I’ve always approached September as the new January: a fresh chance for creation and new beginnings. It reminds me that no matter how many flowers whittled in the winter, there’s still plenty of hope for them to sprout again. And the same goes for us.

Like you would spring clean your home and wardrobe, now is a great opportunity to reassess and fine-tune your wellness routine. Remembering that the small things count, I’ve compiled a list of cues for you to take on board to get glowing.

HEALTH + FITNESS

This goes for your workouts and your nourish routine. One of the biggest failing factors in any wellness regime is the repetition equals boredom equation. Don’t fall victim to getting sick and tired of how you’re moving your body and nourishing it. Create a plan each week; make Sunday your go-to day for planning out your workouts, meals and appointments. This way you can see it all and prep for any likelihood excuses.

1. GET ORGANISED

It’s time to leave winter behind and those sterile inside workouts at the door. The weather is warming up and the days are getting longer so why not take your workout outdoors. A HIIT session in your local park is a great start, plus braving the elements like added heat, wind resistance and terrain presents additional challenges (and benefits) that you wouldn’t get from a gym.

2. TAKE IT OU TD O ORS

Page 19: pH2.5 | Vol.1 | Spring 2014

Gut health is critical to getting that 110% glowing feeling from the inside out. After all, beauty begins from within. Ensure you are getting the right amount of nutrients in your meals and look to probiotics like fermented foods (kimchi and sauerkraut are godsends in salads), or mix up your morning smoothie or juice by adding a good green powder to help alkalize the body.

3. SHAKE THINGS UP

After all, spring is the season of rebirth so it makes sense to add a new element to your fitness regime. Cycle classes are huge and are seeing resurgence with the likes of soulcycle and flywheel making waves in the USA, and Flow Athletic in Sydney. Think hardcore spin class with motivating instructors, upbeat music and intense sequences. You’ll leave feel sweaty and not sorry!

4. TRY SOMETHING NEW

The usual mat Pilate’s class is a great addition to your workout week with 1 to 2 sessions coupled with the all-important strength/cardio. But if you’re feeling ad-venturous and want to really focus on perfecting those Pilate poses, opt for a Reformer Pilates class. Talk about a unique full core workout that brings intense resistance training to life by focusing on centering, concentration, control, precision and breathing.

5. STRETCH IT OU T

spring home decor trends

Spring is a magical time of the year. The days are getting longer, your mood is generally lighter and the notion that summer is around the corner seems to make everything that little bit sweeter! What does spring call for at your place? We say lightly fragranced candles, lighter textures and colours, long Sunday lunches and hitting the farmers markets.

Some of our favourite sites for making use of fresh, seasonal produce include: mimithorisson.com , thefirstmess.com and golubkakitchen.com.

Add some colour and energy to your interiors with some bright bold prints and artwork. Adore Home Magazine offer some great inspiration.

The seventies are making a big come back this season, not forgetting furniture and interior design trends. A hanging chair brings a touch of relaxed boho-chic style to any indoor or out-door setting.

The finer details are what really brings a room together. A touch of copper in this retro-inspired ‘Metro Table Lamp’ from Freedom Furniture brings an air of elegance to any room.

Try a beautifully scented candle to lift your spirits at the end of a long day. The ‘Lilies and Leather’ Candle by Palm Beach Collection is pure bliss. Top it off with a fine glass of Sauvignon Blanc to get into the fresher, lighter season mood. We recom-mend this one by Shaw and Smith.
