Continuing professional development (CPD) or Continuing professional education (CPE) is:
the means by which people maintain their knowledge and skills related to
their professional lives.
UKHMA Definition: ◦ the systematic maintenance, improvement and
broadening of professional knowledge, understanding and skill and the development of personal qualities necessary to undertake the professional and technical duties of a Harbour Master throughout the Member’s working life.
