PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Consultant/IT manager for UNO – Dominican Republic /Miami 1999-current

Designed and implemented a converged Voice and Data over ATM WAN connection from a Miami Co-Location to UNO’s call center in D.R. It has been in use 24x7 with virtually no downtime, and I maintain and service their infrastructure in Miami.

Director of Infrastructure and IT for NETstar N.V.– St.Maarten/Miami 2006-current

I’ve been involved with every aspect of the growth of NETstar’s network infrastructure in St.Maarten, from startup, to becoming one of the main providers of wireless telecom services on the Island. I designed, planned the network rollout, and did the implementations, while leading and training a team of local technicians.IT Consultant for Helm Bank – Miami, Florida 2009-2011

Complete overhaul of customers’ legacy voice and data network. Designed and implemented a voice and data convergence solution together with a VPN network to integrate their main office on Brickel ave with their 10 remote offices in Central- and South-America. An Avaya IP enabled PBX was used at the main office, and remote offices connect to the PBX switch via the VPN network with IP phones. Firewall security was implemented at each level of the network. A disaster recovery plan was introduced and enabled by moving mission critical servers into the NAP of the Americas. Servers were virtualized with VMware and Microsoft server OS. Provided training to bank’s IT personnel.

IT manager at Tallard Technologies – Miami, Fl and consultant for Tallard's customers - CaLA 1998-2010

Designed, implemented and maintained a large variety of small to large and complex LAN/WAN solutions for Tallard’s channel partners in the CaLA region, using products from Avaya, Allot, extreme networks, RAD, Polycom, and others. Most projects were focused on unified communications and voice and data convergence, which included projects for large contact centers for SitelCaribbean, and fortune 500 companies :ACS, NARS, and Xerox.

Projects of note:

Ministry of National Security of Trinidad and Tobago 2001 Nationwide wireless WAN, integrated Voice/data connections to over 200 sites

SitelCaribbean / E-services - Jamaica 2001-2012 Provided them with a very efficient and scale-able ATM network, integrating voice and data connections, which grew within a short period of time into a fully meshed DS3 WAN, supporting thousands of simultaneous compressed voice calls. Connecting 3 contact centers with co-location sites in Miami and Chicago. 5 9’s reliability (99.999% uptime) was met or succeeded at every level of the total network, encompassing 5 backbone nodes, and over 15 large site customer endpoints. SitelCaribbean was one of the world’s fastest growing companies, growing from just 15 agents to over 3000, with multiple locations in Jamaica. Recently bought out by Xerox. Managed teams of technicians and engineers, and provided training to customer’s engineers.

Tallard ExtraNet

Over the years Tallard has expanded into the region, opening offices in Central- and South-America. During this expansion I provided them with a solution that significantly increased reliability, stability, and efficiency by moving all mission critical IT hardware and software resources into the NAP of the Americas, and integrated all remote offices and some channel partners into a private cloud using VPN’s. Voice and data were converged into a single network. The centralized data center, outfitted with a VMware based cluster, at the NAP now allowed company wide access to ERP and back office applications such as SAP which added scale-ability and transparency for the end-user.

Consultant for HBO Latin America – Miami, Florida 1999-2000Designed and implemented an integrated Voice and data solution for their offices in Florida and Caracas, Venezuela. Using ATM switches, created a very efficient network that used HBO’s Satellite network to make the connection between Miami and Venezuela.

Consultant for Interdata Engineering - Miami, Florida 1996-1998

Responsible for design and implementation of a Satellite WAN, covering 5 countries in 3 continents, for an international financial institution. Connecting over a 1000 end-user nodes with integrated voice-data-video services. Managed centralized Windows and Linux servers for email and other corporate applications. Managed a team of technicians and engineers Gained experience in Satellite engineering, ATM protocol, VoATM, VoIP, and video-conferencing. Other smaller projects I did for Interdata ; Designed and implemented a VoIP link between Miami and Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, for an international Telecomm carrier, using Cisco AS5300 VoIP switches.Designed and implemented a satellite VoIP link between Miami and Kingston, Jamaica for an international Telecomm carrier.

Network Engineer Consultant – Island of St.Maarten 1990-1996

Consultant to variety of local businesses, including several hotels and the Government of St.Maarten. Responsible for large part of automation project of the Government. Greenfield installation of +200 node Unix client server network. Managed small team of programmers and technicians.
