OVERVIEW
How to use this guide
Welcome to Ecolab Pest Elimination! During the course of your training, you will use this guide to provide direction to in-
field training activities over the next 7 weeks.
Throughout this guide you will find details related to each week including your role and responsibilities and tasks that need
to be completed. Today you met with your District Manager or Associate District Manager to begin the onboarding and
training process.
Please review each week’s agenda which will outline every step of your training experience. Below you will find roles
listed and defined for each person you with whom you will interact with throughout your training program. The contact
information for each of the people defined here is listed below.
Trainee
That’s you. Regardless of your future full-time role with Ecolab, you will be referred to as a/the Trainee throughout this
document and your next 7 weeks.
Associate or District Manager
The Associate or District Manager (A/DM) is your manager if your eventual full-time roll will be a Service Specialist or
Utility Specialist.
The A/DM will be a significant part of your training experience throughout all 7 weeks. The A/DM will provide support
where possible, align you with the in-field training person from your district in weeks 1 and 5, and will have the route
geography ready when you complete graduation in week 7.
Regional Manager
The Regional Manager (RM) is your hiring manager’s supervisor and holds the responsibility for the sales and operations
of the region you are aligned to. The RM will set up meetings with you via phone during weeks 1 & 6 to gain feedback on
your training experience.
Service Specialist Mentor
The In-District Service Specialist (SVSP) will be the primary point of contact in weeks 1 and 5 as a trainer in a service
role; s/he will demonstrate appropriate safety and service protocols in customer accounts for each of these weeks. You
may be aligned to a different SVSP in weeks 1 and 5.
Field Training Specialist
The Field Training Specialist (FTS) will be the primary point of contact in weeks 2, 3, and 6; he or she will provide
instruction and guidance to our safety and service protocols, and demonstrate procedures in servicing our customer
facilities.
Field Training Manager
The Field Training Manager (FTM) will be the primary point of contact in weeks 4 and 7 during your classroom weeks in
Eagan, Minnesota. The FTM is ultimately responsible for your training throughout the 7 weeks and will provide significant
instruction to the safety, service, and sales protocols.

In-Field Training Schedule of Hours
During each in-field week, the starting times are flexible and will be determined by the Infield Mentor; the FTS will
determine work schedule during weeks 2 & 3. During Week 5 &6, you may shadow a Sales Development Manager
Mentor assigned by your RSM.
During Week 1 you will shadow a SVSP Mentor assigned by your A/DM.
Your starting day may be either Sunday night or Monday but the ending time for Week 1 cannot exceed 11:59pm on
Friday. These same guidelines apply for Weeks 2, 3, and 5. However, pay close attention to Week 6 as you must not
surpass 11:59pm Thursday evening because you will be traveling on Saturday of Week 6.
Anchor Sleep
During weeks 2 & 3 of your infield training, you may be shifting from days to nights and the importance of anchor sleep is
critical to operating in a safe manner.
Anchor sleep is a period of at least four hours during which one sleeps every day while on a particular shift rotation. For example: a common block of time to establish anchor sleep is 6 am to 10 am for those working nights. If you use 6 am to 10 am as the anchor, you would be sleeping during these hours every day while on the nighttime shift. Ideally, you would try to sleep those same anchor hours while working days as well….or at least as close to those hours as possible.
Your FTS will provide your working schedule so you can plan accordingly.
Homework & Tasks
During your in-field work, you will be assigned homework in the form of eLearning training modules, reviewing of Ecolab
protocols and studying for your state or provincial licensing exam. All homework is located through this address:
https://ecolabpest.bridgeapp.com
IMPORTANT: Using your iPhone or laptop, this is a Single Sign-On event (SSO); you will use the same
credentials as your Ecolab email to login.
Once you have logged in, choose Learning Library and select the course you need to complete. It is recommended that
you complete the training modules on the days specified on Page 11 in the Tasks and Homework section. The
completion of all training modules will be tracked and reported back to the A/DM as well as your assigned field
training team members.
Tasks are to be completed while you are with your SVSPM or the individual with whom you are training. Homework
assignments are to be done at home, independently. You must be “clocked in” during this time.
Now that we have set up the parameters of your training, let’s take a look at a breakdown of your training week-by-week.

Hello <<Manager Name>>, Today I completed the Fall Prevention and Hazard Communication eLearnings. We went out to two Taco Bells, Wendy’s, Outback, and Texas Roadhouse. At Taco Bell we were unable to check the ceiling traps because they have 8 foot ceilings and we only have a 6 foot ladder. We would be forced to stand on the top of the ladder to inspect the ceiling which would not be safe. We were given a lead for a local restaurant, The Winding Road Café; we put together a proposal and hope to hear back from the owner in about a week. Regards, <<Your Name>>

the district.
