Your Task:Use forced perspective, point of

view, and scaling to create images that fool the eye and are

compositionally interesting to look at.

You will be exercising your power as an artist to tell the viewer what they should see.

IMAGES & EDITING:Shoot a series of pictures (40 minimum) in which

scaling and perspective are manipulated to create optical illusions. Your contact sheet should have 5 images from each one of the technique categories. You should shoot an image multiple times to achieve success.

Choose the 2 most successful images and put them in Mrs. Duckworth’s drop box. See next slide for technique category criteria.

IMAGES & EDITING:Techniques to try when shooting your pictures:

1)Using an inanimate object to create an optical illusion

2)Feature a human subject3)Rotate the camera/image

Page 22: Perspective is Everything

Idea Starters• Create an impossible

situation (your hand picking up a skyscraper or the sun resting on a spoon)

• Position subjects on different planes to warp the perception of scale...Objects in the foreground will appear larger than objects in the background.

• Shoot from a variety of perspectives so objects appear smaller or larger than they are in real life.

• Rotate the camera or manipulate the image afterwards

SKETCHBOOK:Pt. ONE: Brainstorm 10 possible images that you can create using scaling, perspective, and point of view for each one of the 3 categories. Brainstorm 10 additional image ideas in a CHOICE category for a total of 40 ideas in your sketchbook

{(1) using an inanimate object (2) featuring a human subject (3) rotating the camera/ image (4) your choice}

Pt. TWO: Create a mock up of one of your image ideas from each category.

You will print images from the internet that you can alter using sharpie or collage to create a new image.
