TENDER: Tendering is the process by which bids
are invited from interested contractors to carry
out specific packages of construction work.
CONTRACT: An agreement enforceable by law
is a contract. Every promise and every set of
promises, forming the consideration for each
other, is an agreement

The client is the person for whom the project is
carried out. In the case of notifiable projects, clients
must appoint a competent project manager. Those
clients without construction expertise must rely on the
project manager advice on how best to meet their
duties, but the project manager will need the clients
support and input to be able to carry out their work
effectively. The client remains responsible for
ensuring that client duties are met.
Duties
1. Verify the competence and resources of all
organisations and internal teams the client
engages or allocates to the project
2. Ensure that suitable management
arrangements are made for the project
3. Ensure sufficient time and resources are
allowed for all stages of the project
4. Provide the pre-construction information to the
designers and contractors
Project Manager
A project manager is the person who has the
overall responsibility for the successful initiation,
planning, design, execution, monitoring,
controlling and closure of a project. The project
manager must have a combination of skills
including an ability to ask penetrating questions,
detect unstated assumptions and resolve
conflicts, as well as more general management
skills.
