Why Write Value Statements?

• Statement of Guiding Principals– Assist in aligning actions– Assist your personal board in advising you

• Assist in Decision Making– Clarify gray area decisions– Leverage to save time/effort/money

• Helps to prioritize actions

• Reduce distractions, guilt or regrets

• Different from Value Statement– Can only be one vision statement– Your overarching goal

• Purpose– Vision will focus your values on one goal– Further assists in making big decisions. (which option is

aligned with your vision?)
