RESEARCH INTERESTS
Archaeological science, archaeometry and archaeomaterials: including the ancient mining and metallurgy
of prehistoric Western and Middle Asia (especially from about 10,000 to 500 BCE). These comprise the
provenance and technological studies as well as investigations on early production of metals, ceramics,
glass, and lithic tools and exchange systems using diverse compositional, microstructural, and isotopic
studies of ore, rock, ceramics, mortar, and ancient metallurgical remains.
Metallogenesis, economic geology, and mineralogy in relation to archaeomaterials: including mineralogy,
geochemistry, and petrology of ore deposits and industrial minerals and rocks, application of industrial
minerals and rocks in the ancient times as well as in the modern industry, ore forming processes, petrology
and fluid-rock interactions, and isotopic geochemistry of ore deposits.
