From the Principal’s Desk Welcome and Thanks Welcome back to another wonderful year of learning and opportunity at Quirindi Public School. It was so nice to see the excitement and smiles on so many faces yesterday as returning and new students made their way through the gates. I must also express my excitement to be continuing on here at Quirindi Public School after being appointed as the permanent Principal at the end of 2018. Thank you to all the students, staff, families and community members who have supported me in my role and I now look forward to working with you into the future. Please remember that if you ever have any concerns or questions, it is important to communicate with your child's classroom teacher or myself so we can work together to provide the best opportunities for your child in a fantastic learning environment. Classes and Classroom Teachers

Additional teaching staff

Kindergarten 2019 This week our new Kindergarten students are participating in their Best Start Assessments with their 2019 classroom teacher. These assessments provide staff with a great understanding of the skills and knowledge that our students come to school with. It is also a fantastic way for the classroom teacher to build a rapport with their students in a non-threatening, one-on-one learning situation. We are all looking forward to welcoming our new Kindergarten students officially on Monday of next week. Recycling - WE WANT YOUR PLASTIC BOTTLES!!! Our amazing General Assistant, Mr Valentine, has come up with a wonderful scheme to raise additional money for our school. Students can bring plastic bottles into school on any day and we will arrange to add these to our collection and Mr Valentine will complete the 'return and earn' process raising funds that can then be used for a range of things throughout our school. John Ireland Principal New Staff We would like to welcome Larissa Mackaway, Aleisha Fairclough, Harley Walmsley and Sarah Austin to our team here at Quirindi Public School. Please make them feel welcome when you see them around the school.

Volunteering in class Parent helpers in classrooms are very welcome but first you must ensure the office has the correct paperwork completed. Prior to commencing volunteering in class can you please check with the office. These requirements are mandatory for the department to keep our children safe. You will also need to bring suitable identification at the same time. All parent helpers are asked to sign in the Visitor’s Book each time they are at school and collect a visitors’ lanyard from the office.

P&C Uniform Shop 2019 The uniform shop will be open every Wednesday morning from 8.30am - 9.30am for any of your uniform needs. We also have EFTPOS available for your convenience but please note that you cannot pay for uniforms through the schools POP system. Uniforms can also be ordered and paid for through the Flexischools App. You can find details about this app further on in the newsletter. Orders outside of these times can be placed at the office by filling out an order form and leaving money – however will not be filled until the next Wednesday.

Sun Safe At Quirindi Public School we are a Sun Safe School. If your child forgets to bring a hat to school, they will be required to play in the K-2 area under the shade of the large COLA. This is for their protection. We also have sunscreen in each classroom and learning areas that will be available for students to access at any time. Staff will remind students to apply sunscreen as they leave the classroom to go out to play or participate in sport and PE. Please make sure you also teach your child about the importance of applying sunscreen for protection.

Co-operation At Quirindi Public School we learn and play together.

Skoolbag Smartphone App Our school has our own Skoolbag Smartphone App which we will be using to send you important information. We also place our newsletter on the app each week. There are e-forms that you can complete on the app for your child's absence or change of any details for enrolment. When these forms are submitted a notification comes to the school. Parents and carers may find this easier to do rather than calling the school each day.

The below instructions tell you how to download the app. You can also sort and filter the notifications you receive. To turn these filters on .... go to your App Click on the 3 dots labelled “More” (Bottom right hand side of App) Click “Setup Push Notifications” Tap the “ON” tab beside the category that is applicable to you.
