What is PerioPatch?

PerioPatch is an active oral bandage containing a highly refined blend of

3 natural botanical extracts (Centella asiatica, Echinacea purpurea and

Sambucus nigra) in a hydrogel base.

How Does PerioPatch Work?

PerioPatch has a well defined dual mechanism of action:

The hydrogel base together with the bioactive botanicals act as an absorbent

of inflammatory exudates from both the gingiva and the crevicular fluid to

reduce inflammation and promote the natural healing process.

Gingival biopsies have demonstrated that PerioPatch provides a strong

immune modulating effect by reducing inflammatory cytokines and other

inflammatory cells such as IL1-beta, TNF alpha, beta-glucuronidase and

MMP-9 while also promoting healing and stimulating collagen production to

accelerate tissue repair.

PerioPatch also provides a protective role by forming a localized seal over

How to Use PerioPatch

PerioPatch is applied to the affected gum area twice a day for

three days.

The first patch is applied by the dentist or hygienist; the patient

applies the remaining five patches at home over the next 2 ½

days.

The patch remains in place for 15 to 60 minutes, at which time it

will fall off and can be discarded. It is safe if the patient

accidentally swallows the patch.

While the patch is attached, the patient should not eat or drink

during this time.

Numerous clinical studies have confirmed the ease

of application by patients

The Columbia University study specifically showed

that patient compliance was not a significant issue,

with 51 out of 53 patients applying the patch easily

(96% compliance)

Since patient application in the mandibular molar

area could be difficult, consider applying the first

patch in the office and having your patient follow-

up at home with using PeriActive Rinse twice a day
