Performing Arts Series Oklahoma City Community College With their hit PBS special now airing across the US and a Billboard Top 10 album “You Should Dream”, it’s easy to see why The Texas Tenors are quickly becoming America’s favorite new tenors. Since their whirlwind debut four years ago on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, The Texas Tenors have performed over 600 concerts around the world including a 24-city tour in the United Kingdom, Shanghai, China and collaborations with some of the most prestigious symphonies and performing arts centers throughout the globe. From Alabama to Puccini, John Hagen, Marcus Collins and JC Fisher bring their unique blend of Country, Classical and Broadway to the stage with breathtaking vocals, humor and a touch of cowboy charm. In addition to their extensive world tour, The Texas Tenors can be found in cities across the country for extended runs including 65 concerts each year at The Starlite Theatre in Branson, MO where they were named 2011, 2012 and 2013 Critic’s Choice Group of the Year, Best Legacy Group, Branson’s Favorite Christmas Show of 2013 and remain Trip Advisor’s #1 attraction in the region. The Texas Tenors — October 1, 2015 Rhonda Vincent wasn’t born with a mandolin in her hands, but she’s been a musician since childhood. Known the world over as “The Queen of Bluegrass” – a nickname earned 14 years ago following a Wall Street Journal article – Vincent has become one of the most recognized and honored musicians in the genre. Speaking about the Wall Street Journal article Rhonda related, “That is an incredible honor given by the Wall Street Journal in 2000. I am just beginning to realize that we are influencing the young musicians we meet, or have inspired others to start playing music and to start singing. I take this very seriously and hope that we always represent our wonderful state of Missouri with dignity and class.” She’s performed and made music videos with the likes of Dolly Parton and is no stranger to The Grand Ole Opry stage – yes, that Grand Ole Opry. Rhonda V incent and the Rage— January 22, 2016 Together, Los Lobos and Ballet Folklorico Mexicano celebrate Mexican- American heritage through imagery, dance, and music, highlighting the many notable achievements of successful Mexican-Americans throughout time in a spectacular display! Los Lobos can best be described as eclectic — in the best possible sense of that term. They excel at (and manage to synthesize) every form of modern roots music into their sound. You name it — hard R&B and blues, Tex-Mex, country, poprock, folk music, ethereal psychedelia, gorgeous ballads, or pure, raucous garage rock ‘n’ roll — and these guys have delivered it in spades, while forever remaining true to the pure traditional Mexican music that brought them together as teenagers in the first place. Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno - Founded in 1967 by Carlos Moreno Samaniego, the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano has achieved recognition both in the United States and in Mexico. Drawing on the artistic variety of Mexico’s different regions, the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano has a dance repertory of 120 pieces. Many of these are presented in their traditional form while others have been restaged to include artistic elements from more contemporary choreography. Los Lobos: F iesta Mexico-AmericanaFebruary 16, 2016 Within a week of the final telecast, Doc Severinsen and His Big Band were on the road, and to this day, audiences across America love and respect Doc and his big band, not just because he shared their living room with them for so many years, but because of Doc’s love of the Big Band repertoire. His musicianship keeps this iconic American music fresh to this day. Their repertoire includes Ellington and Basie standards, pop, jazz, ballads, big band classics and, of course, The Tonight Show theme. Severinsen can still blow hard with his horn, and hit the high notes, a result of his continued commitment to the practice studio and the refinement of his craft. But as a band leader, Doc continues to surround himself with the best in the business, and he’s only too happy to give them a turn in the spotlight. Come hear him play with the Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra, Oklahoma City’s premiere big band! Doc Severinsen with the Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra— October 26, 2015 For over three decades on the concert stage, the members of the Grammy® Award-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet have continually set the standard for expression and virtuosity among guitar ensembles, while perennially redefining themselves in their musical explorations.
