    Scenario

    You are planning to apply for a music course at a local sixth form college. To ensureyou have the best possible chance of success you should develop your music

    performance skills during teacher-led sessions. You are required to take with you tothe audition a practice log that shows you have been able to track your progress duringthe sessions. This should include strengths and weaknesses in your vocal orinstrumental technique.

    Use P.2 and P.3 to identify areas of technique to work on, as part of your log.

    Getting Better

    Develop your music performance skills and reviewyour own practice

    Task:You should start your online blog by explaining what you would like to achieve by theend of the performance unit, in one years time, and a plan of how you are going toachieve this.

    Attend all of your instrumental lessons, and bring your music into your practical musiclessons in order to practice. When you have completed a piece of music, record it andupload to your online blog to demonstrate your progress.

    Scenario

    The audition is fast approaching. You will prepare two suitable contrasting pieces thatshow off your technical and interpretive skills in performance, ensuring that you alsokeep a record of your rehearsal process.

    Perform to an audience of peers and teachers.

    Use p.3-5 to identify areas to work on.

    Task

    You should rehearse the pieces that you have chosen for your audition.

    During rehearsals you should demonstrate appropriate personal management skills,e.g. time management, concentration and focus, self-discipline and sensitivity towards

    others.

    You should also use musical performance skills in rehearsal to ensure that the piecesare fully prepared for performance to an audience.

    Perform professionally and maturely to the class, and ensure that it is video recorded.

    Through your performance you will show you have used the technical and interpretiveskills you have developed during yourstudy for this unit.

    Your performance should also clearly show the particular stylistic qualities of the typeof music being performed.
