SWAPPING a life of travelling the world working on stunt shows to

establish a mortgage broking business marks a seachange for Bren and

Kylie Rodda

The former Gold Coast couple met while performing in ski and dolphin

shows at Sea World.

They have swapped the wet suits for mortgage broking in Darwin with

Loan Market.

Mr Rodda said they decided on the change while working at a theme

park in China.

"We had been looking into mortgage broking for a few years but were

unsure about starting on the Gold Coast so the idea was put on the back

burner,'' he said.

While in China a phone call from a friend indicated there was an

opportunity for brokers in Darwin.

"We had been in Darwin previously for a ski show and just loved the

place and so when we were offered the opportunity to start our

own business we jumped at it,'' he said.

Mrs Rodda, who spent a decade at Sea World and hosted dolphin, seal

and water ski shows, said the move to Darwin and job change had been

"fantastic''.

They studied to be brokers while they were in China then spent time

getting experience with other brokers in Adelaide.

Then they moved to Darwin and opened their business in conjunction

with Ray White Central.

"Our careers in broking have been quite successful so far,'' Mrs Rodda

said.

"The weather and the people in Darwin are terrific and they are very

open to getting assistance with their home finance as they don't have the

access to the lenders people down south do.''

The couple said they were getting great job satisfaction out of mortgage

broking.

"For both Kylie and myself, the

career change and move to

Darwin has been a great ride

and we still get to water-

ski all year round,"

Mr Rodda said.
