A part of the whole
Example: What percent of Pizza is left?
Whole = 8 slices
Part left = 4
Ratio: Part= 4 = 1=0.5 = 50%

Set your part over whole ratio equal to p over 100.
Part=p
Whole 100
Pizza Example:
4=p
8 100
6. Solving Proportions
4=p
8100
Cross multiply:
4x 100 = 8 xp
400 = 8p
Solve for p
400 = p
8
P = 50%
7. Example:
What percent of 162 is 90?
Part = 90
Whole = 162
90=p
162 100
Cross Multiply
90 x 100 = 162 xp
900 = 162p
Solve for p
900=p
162
P= 56%
