Setting up for Selective Adoption Demo



Applying PRPs to PUM Source

• PRPs are auto-downloaded to the Cloud Manager Repository.

• PRPs are stored on the file server on specific directory which is shared as a samba share.

• To apply PRPs to PUM source, user has to:1. Access the PRP share on the windows client VM.

2. Copy them to D:\psft\pum_download on windows client.

3. Launch Change Assistant

4. Use Apply PeopleSoft Release Patchset option to apply PRPs on PUM source.

Note: Change Assistant is configured when an Add Target is performed, therefore an Add Target must be performed before you can apply a PRP.


Setting Up for Selective Adoption

• Create Environment for PUM Source using PUM Fulltier template, this deploys:

– one Linux VM (PUM Source)

– one Windows VM for PeopleSoft Client with Change Assistant installed

• Manage PUM Connections – Add Target– PUM Source database and target database details are configured in Change Assistant

– Target database details uploaded to PUM source database

• Apply PRP to PUM Source

– Access PRP from file server


Upgrading PeopleTools

• Subscribe to the Tools Release channel.

• Use the Environment > Detail page to upgrade a running environment.

• When you select to upgrade PeopleTools:

– Change Assistant is upgraded to the release and the PeopleTools upgrade runs automatically.

– When the upgrade is complete, you will get a message and the upgrade status will be complete.

• After upgrading a database you should clone the template so the latest version will be available to self-service users.



Clone to Template

In order to ensure that self-service users get the most current environment, you should clone the environment:

• After performing a Shift operation

• After applying application updates

• After applying PeopleTools patches

• After applying PRPs

• After upgrading PeopleTools

• After applying customizations



Applying PeopleTools Patch

• When you select to apply the patch:

– Change Assistant is upgraded to the new patch and the apply PeopleTools patch runs automatically.

– When the patch is complete, you will get a message and the status will be updated.

• Pre-reqs –– Windows Client must be available in the env

– PT DPKs for PeopleTools release downloaded to Repository



Updating Cloud Manager

• Up-take new PRPs for Cloud Manager using the automated process

• Fully automated process

– Deploy PUM Source

– Configure Change Assistant

– Apply PRPs to PUM Source

– Create and Apply Change Package to target

– Reboot Cloud Manager domains

Launchplan to Orchestration

• Instances created with Launchplan APIs have –

– No High Availability

– Cannot recover failed or instances in error state when host machines are reboot

– Cannot be stopped/started

– Always metered, only option is to delete
