There are usually two things the typical electricity consumer wants to know when the power unexpectedly goes out:

(1) Does my provider know I’m out of power and (2) How long will it take for my service to be restored?

People’s Electric strives to provide the most reliable electric delivery service possible, but there are times—for instance , when storms ravaged our area during the ice storm of 2000—when Mother Nature can create issues. Fortunately, the electric cooperative has a number of ways to report an outage and has a new option that allows members to quickly text their outage conveniently from their mobile telephones. 553301604

“Today’s consumers rely on mobile technology for a myriad of conveniences and necessities, so we wanted to make sure we leveraged that vehicle so our members could, on those rare occasions when the lights go out, report their outages as effi ciently as possible,” said PEC CEO and executive vice president Kevin Wood. “This free service allows members with fi ve or fewer accounts to report their outages in a manner that goes directly to our outage management system so that a crew can be dispatched as quickly and safely as possible,” he added.

It’s essential that PEC have the mobile phone number associated

with an account. Register your mobile phone number with the cooperative’s information system today by contacting our offi ce at (580) 332-3031, between the hours of 8 AM to 5 PM Monday thru Friday, or using the following website link: http://peopleselectric.coop/phoneupdate

This service provides an alternative to calling us in an outage situation and is just as accurate as reporting via phone call.
