Watson-Marlow parent company Spirax- Sarco Engineering plc, is planning to retire in January 2014. Nick Anderson, currently responsible for Spirax-Sarco’s steam business operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, has been appointed chief operating officer with immediate effect, with a view to taking over as chief executive when Vernon leaves the company next year. Anderson joined Spirax-Sarco in September 2011 and has successfully engineered and implemented the restructuring of the European sales companies. He previously served as vice president of John Crane Asia Pacific and president of John Crane Latin America and has also worked for Alcoa Aluminio in Argentina and Foseco Minsep Group plc in Brazil. In his new role, Anderson will be responsible for the day to day delivery of Spirax-Sarco’s operating results, with the operating management of the Spirax Sarco and Watson-Marlow businesses reporting to him. Commenting on Vernon’s retirement, Spirax-Sarco board chairman Bill Whiteley said: “On behalf of the shareholders, the board acknowledges with gratitude the significant contribution to the group’s growth and prosperity made by Mark. Since early 2008 as chief executive, Mark has led the group with distinction and successfully guided the company through a challenging economic period, and meaningfully improved on the group’s record of strong and consistent growth. David Adams, currently president and chief operating officer of Curtiss-Wright, has been promoted to president and CEO, and will also serve as a member of the board of directors. When Benante retires, Adams will assume the dual role of chairman and CEO. As part of the formal transition plan, Benante will continue as executive chairman of the board until his retirement, at which time he will leave the board. www.curtisswright.com Colfax Corp has promoted Daniel Pryor to executive vice president of strategy and business development. Pryor played a key role in Colfax’s strategic plan and development process that led to last year’s acquisition of Charter International. Pryor joined Colfax in 2011 from The Carlyle Group, where he was a partner and managing director focused on industrial leveraged buyouts and led the acquisitions of numerous portfolio companies and follow-on transactions. Before Carlyle, Pryor spent 11 years at Danaher Corp. He most recently worked for Stoll Giroflex AG, where he served as international sales & marketing communication director and head of business development. Torregrosa served as president of the metering pump specialist from November 2011 until June 2013. Bryan Wimberly, 74, served as senior vice president corporate development at DXP until 1999. Wimberly, who was employed by DXP, or its predecessor company, in various executive capacities from 1987 until 1999, is a BA graduate of Yale University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance. He is a founding member and past president of GDPWW, a nationwide organization of industrial distributors. Wimberly currently serves on the board of Automation Technology Inc, a privately owned manufacturer of valve automation equipment. “Bryan will be a great addition to the DXP board,” said David Little, DXP chairman and CEO. “Bryan’s years of experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and commercial banking bring an important perspective to the boardroom.” Wimberly’s term will expire at DXP’s next annual shareholder meeting, and he will then stand for re-election by the company’s shareholders. www.dxpe.com Water Environment Federation (WEF) executive director Jeff Eger has resigned from the not-for-profit technical and educational organization after two and a half years in the role. WEF has appointed Dr Eileen O’Neill as interim executive director. O’Neill was most recently WEF deputy executive director where she focused on pursuing innovation opportunities and global and academic relations as well as supporting the executive director in his responsibilities.
