HOME MISSIONS-OUR OWN NEEDS

2ND COLLECTION MAY 19 & 20 The Catholic Communications Campaign

Connects people with Christ through media programming

to promote Gospel values. Fifty percent of the funds

collected remain in our diocese to fund our local

communication efforts.

The Catholic Home Missions Appeal

Assists over 80 Home Mission dioceses in the United

States. Your support helps ease the struggle of these

dioceses and ensures the Gospel is spread across the United

States.

Black and Native American Missions

Every penny collected is given out in diocesan grants. In

the Green Bay Diocese, we annually receive a grant from

this collection to assist parishes in Neopit and Keshena in

their outreach and service to people of the Menominee

Indian Tribe.

The Catholic University of America

Provides an education guided by Catholic tradition to

nearly 7,000 students every year.

Every donated dollar directly supports financial aid for

students. One third of our U.S. Bishops are alumni, along

with 12,400 priests.

The next Diocesan 150th Jubilee Mass will be celebrated for

Parish Staff, Volunteers, and Ministers on June 17th at

4 pm here at Cathedral, followed by a special reception.

Parish staffs, volunteers, and ministers are all welcome to

this special liturgy with Bishop Ricken! As seating is

limited (first-come, first-served basis) please RSVP today

FROM FR. JOE This Sunday marks the end of the

Easter season. We end this season with the

celebration of Pentecost, which traditionally

comes 10 days after the feast of the

Ascension. The nine days before Pentecost,

the days between these two feasts, we in

effect pray a novena. It is a preparation for a special

outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which please God, will be

poured out upon the Church today, the birthday of the

Church.

It is the Spirit which makes us Church. It is the

Spirit of Jesus which makes us the Mystical Body of

Church, subtly encouraging us and directing us to help our

brothers and sisters, and guiding us in our vocations. One

of the surest signs of God's presence is when we experience

those little "coincidences" which bring things together just

right. We have all experienced those moments. They are

signs that God is in charge and guiding us on our

journeys. My prayer is that we will keep our eyes and

hearts open throughout the remainder of this liturgical year.

God is with us! He is still Emmanuel, even though he sits

now at the right hand of the Father. Fr. Joe
