Pekin Public School District 108 presents: DESTINATION IMAGINATION

Beginning Band Mrs. Janssen and Miss Hendrick would like to remind all Beginning Band members of the first before school practice on Thursday, October 13th. Please arrive in the band

room by 7:25 am so rehearsal can start at 7:30. The Beginning Band will practice every Monday and Thursday before school starting with the 13th.

Notes from the music room:

Students will have the opportunity one day out of the month to share a music performance with

the class. Students will earn points for their class when they are able to perform. Ideas for sharing

include: singing a song or playing an instrument a student is familiar with, such as a string instru-

ment, more than likely it is for share day.

I am also encouraging students to bring in photos and flyers/programs/ticket stubs from con-

certs for our music bulletin board, showcasing the many ways we enjoy music in our lives. I will

print out pictures of photos if they are emailed to me.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for:

4th Grade Music Showcase Performance: 6 PM on Thursday, December 8

Choir Concert: 6 PM on Thursday, December 15th

October PE News

Fall Greetings from Mrs. Gutierrez and Mr. Hermann!

First of all, I would like to say thank you to Mr. Hermann, who will finish up his Student Teaching

experience with us on October 7! I think both the kids and Mr. Hermann had lots of fun learning

about basketball together. Mr. Hermann came to us from ISU and will finish his Student Teaching

experience at Tremont High School and graduate in December of this year. Best of Luck, Mr. Her-

mann, we will miss you!!

As mentioned above, the students have been actively involved in a basketball unit. They will be fin-

ishing up their unit with a test on either October 5th or 6th. Be on the lookout for their study guides

(handed out September 29th or 30th) and be sure to sign it so they can receive an extra credit point on

their test!

Once Mr. H is gone, we will begin to focus on fitness by participating in not only exercises, but using

a myriad of games to get our hearts pumping and our bodies moving. I am looking forward to getting

back in the gym with the students and truly begin our year together!

REMINDER!! All students MUST have tennis shoes to participate in PE. Also, if a student needs to

sit out of PE, a note from home is needed. A note from home is good for ONE day out of PE. For any

other period of time, a doctor’s excuse is required.

~ Mrs. Gutierrez

Unfortunately, Campbell’s Labels for Education has been cancelled. Labels will no

longer be collected and sent in. I would like to take this chance to say thank you to

those that sent in labels. We were fortunate as a school to receive many supplies for

Music, Art, PE, as well as for recess.
