Pegasus was a result of ill- fated mating between
Medusa and Poseidon. When Perseus beheaded
Medusa, Pegasus sprang forth from the blood
coming out of her neck.

CONSTELLATION OF PEGASUS
Zeus transformed him into the constellation of

MYTH
Bellerophon tamed Pegasus, and he rode him into
the battle against the fire breathing Chimera. Later
the hero attempted to ride Pegasus into the heavens.
The gods caused him to buck. Bellerophon then fell
back down to earth. However, Pegasus kept on going
until he made it to Mount Olympus where he lived
out the rest of his days in one of Zeus’ stables.
PEGASUS AND THE MUSES
After being taken by Athena, he was then brought
to Mount Helicon where he was raised by the muses.
In his excitement for being given to those women,
Pegasus was striking the side of the mountain with
his hooves causing springs to turn into flowing
fountains of inspiration.
