The California Association of Mental Health Peer-Run Organizations (CAMHPRO) is a non-profit consumer-run statewide organization of consumer-run organizations or programs, and individual peers.
Mission: Empower, support, and uphold the rights of consumers, eliminate stigma, and advance self-determination and choice.

3 new consumer run programs (CRP) &
2 CRPs to become independent.
20 PAL Liaisons are Conduits--members of 10 different key state policy bodies. Will write tiny ½ page report as conduit to PAL and State body

Improved practices & policies for increased consumer involvement, especially in underserved regions.
Develop & implement statewide processes for peer support workforce standardization.
Consumer engagement statewide via collaborations w/state, providers, partnerships.
Sustainability for PAL, CAMHPRO & CRPs, and to continue grant activities when the grant ends.

Qualifications for PAL Membership
Qualifications for Peer Action League Membership--Individual Peers
Self-identify as a person with LIVED EXPERIENCE of BH (MH &/or substance use/abuse) challenges in recovery.
Agree to uphold CAMHPRO’s Public Policy Principles
Agree to attend online or in-person (annual, regional) forums which will provide knowledge on evidence and value-based behavioral health services, and to hone your skills as an effective advocate, as needed.
Actively participate in one of three PAL Action Committees
1. Peer Workforce,
2. Cultural, Racial, Ethnic Equity, or
3. Public Policy Periodically attend Quarterly PAL meetings
online to learn about PAL progress & give your input on next steps.
Consider becoming a PALM Liaison-- as a member of a key State policy decision-making body.
Estimated time commitment/month: 3-6 hours

Qualifications for Peer Action League Membership—Peer Run Orgs/Programs Your organization is run by an Executive Director
and at least half of your staff and 51% of the Board of Directors that have lived experience of BH challenges.
Note: If you are a peer-run program under the umbrella of a non-peer fiscal agency, your Program Manager, leadership and 51% of staff MUST have lived experience of behavioral health challenges.
Any PAL representatives from your agency MUST self-identify as persons with LIVED EXPERIENCE of behavioral health challenges in recovery & agree to uphold CAMHPRO’s Public Policy Principles.
Your agency supports at least one PAL Representative from your program to: Attend online or in-person (annual, regional)
forums on evidence and value-based behavioral health services.
Attend quarterly online trainings on infrastructure and sustainability of peer-run programs or agencies.
Attend quarterly PAL online meetings Participate in one of three PAL Action
Committees Your program eventually supports at least one
PAL representatives from your agency to become a PALM Liaison: as a member of a key State policy decision-making body.
Note Estimated time commitment: 3-8 hours per month.
